Has anyone put together a French Armee du Nord for 1792? I am having the worst time trying to get something feasible formed up for 900 pts.
a) The requirement of 4 infantry units means at least 12 in the army. But the restrictions on average units in 4s, conscripts either superior or poor (no average 6s), is driving me nutty trying to get some sort of divisional formation that is manageable!!

Re: 1792 French: Feasible??
Below is an 800 point list I was considering at one stage (decided to go with Turks instead though).
The 1st & 2nd divisions are assault formations, each division having 2 superior units with rear support from an average conscript. Each division also has a tooled up average drilled unit to provide medium range fire support.
The 3rd division is a mixed use division. A central reserve when defending and a refused defensive division when attacking
The cavalry are a reserve, to be hidden away for the first half of the game.
No artillery units.
The army is designed to get 4 superior infantry units with rear support into hand to hand. The main issue is getting the superior conscripts to charge home with only 1 CMT dice. Attaching DCs would help.
Generally I suspect it's one of those armies you would 'need to love, even when it loses'. The Army of the Moselle looks a better bet (3x small poor veteran unformed infantry units must be a goer), perhaps with an attached division from armee do Nord to give you some superior conscripts.
Anyway, here's the list:
CC1 (Competent)
1st Division
DC2 (Skilled)
Line Infantry (reformed) Small Superior Conscript Line - Cavalry Attachment
Line Infantry (reformed) Small Superior Conscript Line
Line Infantry (reformed) Small Average Conscript Line
Line Infantry (reformed) Small Average Drilled Line - Med Artillery & Skirmish attachments
2nd Division

Line Infantry (reformed) Small Superior Conscript Line - Cavalry attachment
Light Infantry Small Average Drilled Line
Line Infantry (reformed) Large Poor Conscript Line
Line Infantry (reformed) Large Poor Conscript Line - in skirmish formation
4th Division
DC1 (Competent)
Light Cavalry Small Poor Drilled Line
Shock Heavy Cavalry Small Average Drilled Line
Heavy Cavalry Small Poor Drilled Line

Re: 1792 French: Feasible??
So am sitting so far with:
Div. 1 (competent)
-2 x 6 superior conscripts (large instead of Brett/Terry's small to try and minimize hits)
-1 x 4 ave con (rear support)
-1 X 4 ave dr with arty and skirmishers
Div. 2 (same)
(all 4 same)
Div 3 (competent)
-2 x 6 poor cons
-1 x 4 light inf
-1 x somethingIforgetjustwhatatthemoment
So the question now:
Make them mixed divisions and scatter the poor quality horse throughout or make one cavalry division? Pros/Cons?????

Re: 1792 French: Feasible??
I'd put all the cavalry in mixed divisions - they're too weak to use together in a cavalry division - you risk losing them all together.
Use them behind the infantry formations to exploit or fill gaps.
