Re: Godendag - January 19th-20th 2013
Latest update. I have just (at 3.30pm) driven out from Usk to the A449 (the dual carriageway from the M4 to Usk). The road from Usk to the A449 is completely clear apart from a tiny bit of slush in the middle of each carriageway where no car wheels have been. This is turn suggests that the A449 has been well travelled and should hence currently be clear - unless there is another major fall of snow.
There is currently no snow falling.
The Usk weather forecast is for Light Snow between 8pm and 1am tonight, and maybe some more Light Snow tomorrow afternoon.
Richard

I've got to our hotel near Newport with no problem. Just have to hope the A449 is still clear tomorrow morning...

Wow- looking close! Any one of the top 9 teams can win it and I wouldn't discount Simon/Paddy or Steve/The Don Too as well!
If the 3rd round draw is as they lie, then Alasdair/Andy vs Richard/Kevin looks the pick of the ties - they both risk knocking each other off the podium.
My bet - Charles and Richard (if Richard's dice stay OK!) or Tim/Adam or Simon x 2!!!
Have a great day tomorrow and safe journey home for all involved!

Thanks to all of those who managed to make it to Usk despite the weather. (And commiserations to those who didn't).
Here are the results.

So the "Unstoppable one" wins again and makes my predictions look pants!!
Well done Alasdair (and Andy - I'm sure he gave gave you a couple of BG's to play with!) for yet another win - including ties, that's 3 years in a row, all with different partners - awesome!!
The difference between others and Alasdair, isn't that he loses but that when he wins, he wins big!! He goes for it and is prepared to lose to win!
Great to see Simon x 2 grab second but they did avoid Alasdair but what fantastically painted figures and also to Andy and Brian for a well deserved 3rd, thanks (by the look of the results) to a great submarining performance on Sunday!!!
I'll defo be there for next year to stop Alasdair making it 4 in a row (unles of course I'm his 4th partner in 4 years!).

If you are Alisdair's partner next year that should ensure that he is stopped from making it 4 years in a row...

ooo - fighting talk Timmy
However, if I was Alasdair's partner, I suspect I'd get the usual two BG's and if I lost those Alasdair would use the other 11/12 to rack up a big win

Thanks again to Richard for organising a splendid competition - with help from Kevin to sort out those tricky draws.
Myself and Charles had a great run with the Hausa. A thrilling game on top table Sunday afternoon versus Alasdair and Simon. We pushed hard across the table in the face of massed heavy artillery but were finally crushed.
Cheers
Richard

To be fair to Richard and Charles if their army had survived one more go I think they would have broken 3 more of our units but a great and scarey game
cheers
