Lines of sight

Post by johntindall »

Hi guys - I've noticed in my games that I tend to do better at urban scenarios than countryside. In more open scenarios I find that I often misjudge my movement and blunder into the opposition's range and LOS even though I thought I was okay.

I'm using an iPad in 3D mode. Can anyone help with suggestions to not blunder into the enemy's crosshairs?

Two ways...

1. In game. Use the buttons top right of screen, to show the firing zones for each weapon. Generally, similar units from opposite sides have similar ranges.
2. Out of game. Take a look at the squads.csv file. There are five columns in there called LOS, APrange, HErange, APreactionRange, HEreactionRange.

LOS shows the line of sight (how far that unit type can see) in 10's, so 50 = five squares vision, etc.
The other four columns show the range for AP (armour piercing) or HE (high explosive, anti-infantry) shots...

I really shouldn't be telling you this while you're kicking my butt in Hillman, lol! ;-)

PS. JT, worth remembering that if enemy units shoot you at long range, their accuracy/damage inflicted is much diminished... So keep your distance and/or use cover
