Installing on new comp...patches???

I have begun the process of installing games onto a new Windows 8 laptop. For FoGPC, I just installed the basic game, version 1.0. Do I need to run the various patches along the way? What is the best installation sequence?

Edit: The basic game version 1.0 doesn't have an updater in it it seems. Do I install the previous patches? Do I install the expansion packs I have first?

I've just bought the basic game, ran it and checked for updates (there were 20 I think) They all went in one after the other automaticly.
Afterwards I installed some expansion downloads, no problem.

... just remembered, the updates stalled towards the end so I "cancelled" tried again and the last few updates went in ok.

Perhaps the basic game now has the updater built in. The original does not. I wasn't sure if I should do all the updates for it first and then start adding in the expansions or some other order.

Install the expansions first (at least the first few) because some will over-write some patches. Do a search in tech forum. There was a thread a while back that spells out the exact patching sequence.

I installed RoR and then update 1.3.3. Then the ingame updater started on 20 patches. It worked fine until patch 19. Any suggestions on next step?
