Any way to play DLC Campaigns in hotseat mode?

Post by DorianIBD »

Hello,

I got this game last year up to Russian Campaigns 41' and just recently got back into it planning on purchased the rest of the Russian DLCs and then Afrika Corps. However the biggest turn off for me was the AI. When I played the Polish 39 Campaign I remember some scenarios with endless Polish tanks that just respawned immediately. I also hated how the AI automatically got to reinforce all their damaged units instantly the turn after. I used to play wargames on board hexes by myself playing both sides and was perfectly fine with pretending to be two different commanders using the best information aliveble to them.

Is there any way to play the campaigns in HOTSEAT as in playing both sides while obviously progressing thru the campaign as the German side? Holding down shift when I load up a scenario doesn't seem to work as when I clicked end turn the AI still plays. I would really appreciate some help as this would increase my enjoyment of this game immensely.

I've been trying to do what this post said: viewtopic.php?f=125&t=23706 for campaigns to no avail. Please note I know you can play individual scenarios from the DLC campaigns by dragging them into the custom maps folder as hotseat but I am trying to play the actual campaign in hotseat with core unit progression etc.

As far i know it's impossible to play the campaign in hotseatmode.

As you mentioned already yourself you can play the single scenarios as standalone if you copy them into the right folder but obviously you can't progress through a campaign that way. On the other hand the campaign maps are not designed to be played on both sides as human anyway. There are a lot of scripts firing off for one side and it's obviously balanced for the AI so an able human player on the AI side would automatically win most of the more difficult scenarios.
