In the Anglo Irish Later list there are Justiciar Knights who should be able to deploy as alternate troop type Sup HeavyArmour HW.At this point the game wont alow the alternate troop type and the Can only be used as Mounted Knights.Havent checked out the othrer army lists but needs to be changes so that mounted who may dismount on deployment may do so.

added in revision 690 (this was a one was a really tough beast, as even if I was writing the code with it in mind from the beginning, it still required a lot of coding, modifications, and additions through all the code when it came to actually activate it. not to mention a lot of testing and debugging)

You don't have any reason to be sorry about it, mate. This was planned from the beginning, it was just not its turn to be dealt with yet. until three days ago
and I've implemented it as a general feature (as I've thought I will from the very beginning), so it can work with more than just two forms for a unit, anytime during a game and in normal (non DAG) scenarios too.
I still have some more tidying up code to write for it (like preventing its use - I'd like to make it available during the game too, not only during the deployment phase. I guess it was made as so due to old FoG(RB) engine limitations, but after all, all they had to do was to get down from their horses. So I'm thinking about talking with Richard, Chris and Iain about it, and allowing it as long as they haven't entered the combat as a dismounted unit yet; re-initializing all the secondary computed properties like the available MPs, shooting range, evade behavior, etc).

Yes i like the Idea of being able to dismount Cavalry for as long as they enter combat as Cavalry and not infantry as you suggest.It will be interesting to know what the FOG brainstrust think of this as i for one will be all for it
It makes sense for Cav that can do so being able to dismount during the game as this would certainly of happened in combat. See how you go mate good luck
