You can see photos of the cohesion markers I was referring to in my previous post. They are in my report on the battle of my Medieval Germans vs Macedonians.
Interestingly, I read the report and never noticed the markers.
When you look at all the other gaming equipment lying around during a normal game - Dice, Rules, measuring sticks, rules etc, the cohesion markers are pretty unobtrusive.

True enough. We try to bannish Mars bars, crisp packets, beer cans from tables but it's REALLY hard to adhere to at those stressful moments :cry:

One of the guys from the Zaragoza club (Francisco) had a good idea. Whenever a unit fails a cohesion test, he puts two appropriate markers down next to the unit. When it comes to the rallying phase you know immediately which ones can't be rallied. Once the Joint Action Phase is over, you remove the extra marker.

The markers Sean has in his battle report photos are the ones I had made by Litko.

They have "Disrupted" on one side and "Fragmented" on the other. Because they are etched into plastic you can have different coloured lettering by running a crayon over them - allows one colour for "new" status, one for continuing.

The markers worked out at US$10 for 10 as a custom order

Good idea, but given it seems that some are adverse to counters as they clutter up the table, I suggest double sided markers as an alternative to placing an extra counter.

I go to the same club as Dave R and we use the traffic light Green/Yellow/Red (which was taken from "Johnny Reb" and "Command Decision") as it is easy to see what is happening, at £1 for 25 tiddlywinks its cheep and it's obvious and its simple to understand.

I'm not sure how spending £10 on special tokens, is an enhancement over this cheep/simple system.

I don't particularly like markers etc. However some are acceptable i.e. in a well known WW11 game, you can use earth ramparts to represent "dug-in", injured crew for "bailed out" etc and these can look in keeping with the game. However the same game also uses states such as "pinned" and "bogged" which do not take so well to visual marking in the same manner.
FOG can use visual markers such as those described by Neil, but sadly I suspect the majority of us will opt for the cheap and cheerful bag of tiddly winks:-( Doubtless I shall do so:-(
The reality is we all clutter up our tables with various paraphanalia and terrain has long been strips of felt, so a few tiddly winks can hardly lower the tone much further:-(:-(

I can't help but hope that we can come up with a better way to represent the various stages of combat attrition in FOG. Tiddly winks etc are so naff.
