Had a game last night with multiple charges and evades.
Now we have consistently played that the charge declarations are all made and then we make all responses ( evades etc) to the charges and then we move all the chargers.
However, on reading the rulebook ( doh!) it appears we have been doing this wrong.
THe section from the book reads:
Each charge and any responses to it must be actioned in the full turn sequence at the end of the book, but if there is more than one charge the active player chooses the order in which they are actioned. after all charges are actioned then impact phase begins.
This is pretty much straightforward until there are a multiple charges and multiple evades.
two questions arise - do we resolve each individual charge to the point of impact phase or do we do all at the same time. with the changes to interpenetration rules for evading troops this becomes significant.
Also with two chargers and one target, the rules state the active player can choose the charger - so if one charger is slower than another that unit can be chosen to move and contact first...
so what happens when there are two charges on one unit? can the player

Re: Sequence of Charges and Responses V1 & V2
As stated in the full sequence of play, all charge declarations are made, then all responses, then all charges are executed. The charging player determines which BG moves first, so yes, the slower one can move first. However, if the second BG then can't complete his charge due to the first blocking it. The second charge is cancelled.

Re: Sequence of Charges and Responses V1 & V2
I recall under v1 that Graham Briggs was adamant that the RAW meant you declared all charges and then worked through each one at a time;
1. Response to first charge, complete first charge
2. Response to second charge, complete second charge
3. Response to third charge, complete third charge
etc, etc.
While under v2 the RAW wording doesn't appear to have changed, the words in the full turn sequence have. They make clear that the correct approach is:
1. Make all charge responses
2. Complete all charge moves
Peter's other point is this:
My cav bg and my LH bg both charge his LF bg. His LF bg throws down and evades a total of 3MUs. My cav throw normal (5 MUs) and my LH throw up (6 MUs). Both my charging BG were going to catch his LF as long as they didn't throw down big. As charger is it my choice which bg I move first or must I move the LH first because they are supposed to move the greater distance? There is a rule that requires the fastest/furthest movers to move first in pursuit, but it appears not in charges,
1. Response to first charge, complete first charge
2. Response to second charge, complete second charge
3. Response to third charge, complete third charge
etc, etc.

Re: Sequence of Charges and Responses V1 & V2
Hi
I am pretty sure that we have played this correctly as per the rules written - ie the active player chooses the order and then moves them in order - it just seems a bit odd to be able to move the slowest first but elsewhere the rules require the fastest to move first. particularly when both are changing the same unit and that unit has to evade from both.

I believe the only requirement in the rules to move the fastest first is for pursuit where you would presumably have less control of the troops than you would in making initial charges.
