A couple of new player questions.

Post by jansorensen »

I have been fooling around with Sparta for a few days and have run into a couple of questions. I apologise if these have been answered before or worse yet are in the manual. In that case I have overlooked it.

1) I had a Woodmans Hut in Sparta along with a Capital. Each assigned worker supposedly produces 4 woods - yet I got 9 woods per. I had only some homesteads apart from this. What am I overlooking that makes this produce 9 rather than 6?

2) In the Pedia the smaller the town - the more of a commerce bonus. Whats the rational behind this? It would seem that larger cities would generate alot more commerce rather than none.

3) Troop experience modifier. Does this only apply to newly created troops only - or to all troops across the map? If its the former - does that mean that there is no gain from having workers in say a heavy inf barracks except when building a troop there?

4) Empire Effect. In the 7th scenario changing 1 worker from the Heavy Inf Barracks to idle changes the Empire Effect. How come?

Thanks

1.) Some buildings increase output, usch as the capital or library.

2.) Beats the hell outta me

3.) Yes

Actually, it is only useful when you have troops being built, AFAIK.

Thank you for the reply.

I am aware that the Capital has a bonus of 50% - but that does not explain why I go from 4 to 9 (a bonus of 125%). Thats what is confusing me.

Idle workers make the population happier & it feeds into the happiness calculations and can effect the empire effect, as it reduces the significance of it if the city is happy. Happier workers are more productive. Smaller settlements are treated as trading posts rather than production centres and get a larger commerce bonus.

Jan

That other wood is probably an empire bonus.

Hit F3, look at the breakdown of all your economic activity. See the row marked Empire Bonus? Follow that across to the column marked Wood.

Is there a number at the intersection?

There's your extra Wood :)
