Bump.

The deadline for me to request put in my request for table space at Cold Wars is fast approaching. I already have a number of people interested and need to know how many more want to play FoG so that I can snatch up a reasonable number.

Talk to me,

I plan on being there and playing in the FoG tournament. I'd prefer 25mm, since I have more options of armies to play at that scale, but I can play my Republican Romans in 15mm if necessary.

650 points, right? Not 800?

Aren't those Rhode Island playtesters planning to play? :lol:

I will be there, but my buddy Linden is waffling due to scale. (He's a diehard 25mm gamer). I'll work on him though.

quote]Seleucid. It was my first DBM army (first miniatures army of any kind, in fact) way back in the day when DBM had just been published. It seems fitting to use it again for the beginning of FoG.

Marc;

A question arose from a buddy that might be interested in attending Cold Wars and playing in the 15mm FoG tourney. He has an early German army, but it appears the early German army is not in the 'Rise of Rome' supplement...just missing the cutoff...........but, we have the beta list, which I assume will be pretty close to the real McCoy when that supplement is released. Would he be able to field the early German army?

IIRC Early German is listed at the back of the Rise of Rome book as suitable for use in that theme. I don't thnk it has changed much from the beta list.

I have no problem with him using the Early German list from the beta army lists. It would be better if he used a list from one of the published books, but since this will be the first ever FoG event in the US, and--even more importantly--will be happening so soon after publication, I am prepared to show a little flex. Bring him on!

Excellent......and, can you go over the 650 pts by up to the cheapest 'element' in the army list...[i.e. 654 pts. if your cheapes unit is a LF Javlinman that is undrilled and unprotected and average quality.]?

No. There have to be some hard-and-fast limits. Everybody plays with 650 points maximum. In my limited experience of FoG army list design, this usually means that somewhere between two and eight points get left on the table. C'est la guerre.

No problem.....just wanted to clarify since some sytems allow that kind of 'new math'....... :lol:

Marc-
I got the beta rules and am furiosly reading them.
I will definitely be there for the Friday FOG game.
1)Is it 650 or 800 points?
2)You prefer armys from the two published books rather than the beta list?
3)Is ther any help that I can give you

Cheers

Danny,

Glad to read that you'll be there for sure. We will be playing 15mm armies at 650 points (the smaller point total is because 1) we will all be newbies; and 2) we will be playing with only 3 hour rounds). Armies from the published books are preferred, but I am prepared to show some flex; I made an exception already for a guy who doesn't have any figures from the armies in those books, but does have one from the beta lists.

As of right now there is no help needed. However, I will remember that you offered as Cold Wars approaches.

The plan, at present, is for a 15mm, 650 point, open tournament. Any army from a then-published army list book will be allowed. If there is sufficient interest (expressed soon!) I will also run a 25mm event. We will most likely be scheduled for the Friday, which might create time constraints requiring a decrease in point levels. More news later as events develop.

EDIT: I changed the point total to 650 from 800, as we will be starting at noon on Friday. The rounds will therefore be three hours in length. I figure that, because we will all be newbies, smaller armies won't hurt.

Talk to me, people!

Marc
Sounds great!

I'll bring a 25mm army or two (maybe with a 15mm back-up) - I may be able to cajole a few others into bringing their 25mm armies (FoG is gaining around here). Molniya Miniatures will also supply prizes! :D

Ken;

I'll bring my First Crusaders in 25mm. Although, the new list book for this won't be out yet, I have the beta list, which I assume can be used. I have another buddy that can bring a 25mm Later Hungarian army too!
