Sorry is been a while not wrighting in english and that mixed with the autocorrect from the iPad made me express uncorrectly.
Mike, as Germán, won the battle to me as allies, conpletly confirmed that he kicked my ass badly, hopefuly i Will return him the favor.
So i am play in 3 Games at this point:
With Mike allies vs joncorcuera germans(from now on Jc bye the grace of Jon, gotolove88s).
morge4 germans vs jc allies
Leci germans vs jc allies.
I hope i didnt confuse moré... Bye the way cant contact John tindal. Is he On?
No worries JC, I think I understand it now...

Hey Jon, any room for me for next map, or lingering open challenges on SWORD, aka as a stand-in player?

Hey Jcb... There's totally room for you on the next 3 maps (Hillman, Carpiquet & Caen)... But Mike tells me you may be a Hillman expert already, no? ;-)

Guys, Does anyone have "not yet started" Sword tourney games you're happy for Jcb to play on your behalf? He's a great player and a gentlemen to boot!

Jcb, Recommend you download the GJS'44 tourney campaign (so far it's only this version of the Sword scenario and I'll be adding the next 3 gradually) but if nobody quickly volunteers any spare Sword games, go ahead and PM Joncorcuera and Arcticpost directly. I'm sure they'd both be happy to give you a runaround on Sword outside of the tourney, 'til we get you into the Hillman round...

Good luck and welcome! It's a privilege to have you onboard.

Guys, Mike won as the Germans re Sword - whitewash! In fact such an arse kicking that his victory should be placed pride of place in the Metropolitan Museum of Arse Kicking!

Ok, now we're REALLY curious... have you guys got some screenshots? what were the KIAs?!!

No screenshots on my part.

Strategies, tactics? Other than avoiding iPad finger troubles and sheer stupidity? And from both perspectives... Ie Allied and Axis...

Some thoughts:
- understand the game mechanics, moves, actual shots and residual/reaction shots
- understand the kill ranges of your units and therefore the movement ranges
- think at least three moves ahead a la chess re deployment and subsequent moves
- decide on the Schwerpunkt, i.e. pressure point and stick to that strategy, but adapt.... See above point
- do not dilute your forces, see point above
- protect your key assets in depth and with compensating and interlocking lines of fire
- outthink your opponent, where, why, what
- protect your transport i.e. refer to 'think three moves ahead' above
- only use rally and aid bonuses where tactical advantage allows an 'edge' i.e. before a unified movement/attack

But hey, I am not the greatest player, still learning, so what do I know? The ability to be stupid is for everyone, I sometimes think I am abusing the privilege. :-)

...oh, and watch out for finger troubles on an iPad.....

To pull out a win as allies in this one is something....thats for sure. Thanks for the game Gilles.

Thanks Mike, you are too kind, but I am improving (even won a Sealion Beach game as Axis) and doing ok re Allies on Sword - but Smeegle probably awaits in cover.....

To all our readers and players, I wish you a merry and happy Christmas, peace and goodwill to all, except when playing BA :-)

GL88s (Allies) just beat me on Sword, maintaining his perfect record, I believe?

And mine too - I've come second every game so far in this tournament! Merry Christmas to all my friends and foes.

Hey Mike, Thanks for giving me a great game!... You're being too modest tho... Your "round the back" armoured column attack is pretty close to important targets... And I still can't find your Firefly!!
Merry Christmas mate...

Yup the result is correct, but the key word is juuuuuust... Gents, JT is being way too modest... He conducted an excellent defence, with the icing on top waiting until the lastminute for a successful sneak attack from the flanks (nope, I won't tell you which flank, but I'm sure JT will be happy to demonstrate! ;-)), then stole a key VP flag from me, and had me scrambling to win a different one with only 2 moves to go... I only fluked the win through very lucky positioning of an unusually strong armour column...

Thanks for a really good runaround John... Our final result could easily have gone the other way!!... Merry Christmas Down Under 8)

GAME FINISHED -- SWORD: Johntindall (Germans) vs GottaLove88s (Allies) - Allied win

PS. Nope, no clean sheet as Allies either... Al & JC kicked my butt for my first two landings...

My pleasure Jcb... Good luck with your games.
I'd recommend trying Sword both ways... This setup is a bit different to the one you fought... and the tourney guys make for tough opponents!

Thanks for two great games Mike... You nearly caught me with your Allied armour assault... Had to scramble to find transports to bring back far flung 88s... Makes me realise how important 251s/Brens are to GJS'44... Whichever side runs out first is going to be in quite some pain... Merry Christmas to you and yours! Hope you're not doing nights tonight! :D
