How does FoG handle Allies?

Post by Shem »

Hello,
still preparing my DBA armies for upcomming FoG battles. Looking at my Carthaginians this question occured to me:

How do you handle allies in FoG? See, in DBA I've got one pure african Carthaginian army, one pure Lusitanian, one Celt-Iberian, one spanish, one italian etc. Are these all implemented in one single Carthaginian army list as BGs, or do I have to field whole armies as allies? My curent DBA armies are good for maybe 2 BGs each, so I'll have to decide for which I buy extra stuff.

Thanks in advance and a happy new year to you!

In FoG depending on the army different allies will be available. A true ally will consist of a general and a number of BG's of troops of that nation. The general can only affect his own troops and not those of the main army and is as a result cheaper in points cost.

Carthaginian is a slightly different case. While Carthaginian can have several allies it can (and really should) have lots of different nationalities fighting under the command of the Carthaginian generals as part of the main army. Celtic, Numidian and Spanish troops are ally common in a Carthaginian army and could be included without the need for an ally.

An ally is more along the lines of a Crusader general and some troops fighting alongside a Fattamid Egyptian army.
