Re: Southern League 2013
Hi been asked by several people what army I am bringing but was going to wait till all the armies were in but lots are, so what was my logic for this competition I was looking for the army with the silliest name that would make people look through the lists so I cut it down to one of two options
The Kingdom of Oyo
or
Hadhramaut
but which did I choose, all will be revealed in the next week as the last few lists come in, all I can say is that as more and more lists come in the more i regret my choice, but c'est la vie as to the game time being short with the lists i've been sent most games could be over in 2 hours it is looking like it will be a straight forward bloodfest now I could be wrong and all the entered players have cunning plans requiring skill, manouvreability and superb generalship and i apologise if i have cast any aspirations of any players what do i know, have a great chistmas and see you in a few weeks.
I plan to publish the list of players and armies before christmas (so those outstanding hurry up)
and the first round draw before New year so lots of cunning plans can be created
Take care
Alasdair

Hmmm, massed Warriors and not a Horse Archer to be seen. Should be interesting.alasdair2204 wrote:The Kingdom of Oyo

My money's on the Hadhramaut, with Bedouin allies of course.

Well that's cooked my goose. Nobody said I needed any skills to enter although I do play a good game of badminton if there's any room in the hall?all the entered players have cunning plans requiring skill, manouvreability and superb generalship

Re: Southern League 2013
Does anyone have spare armies for this period? Ideally ones that are invincible in the hands of a tactically naive, inexperienced and chronically unlucky general?

Re: Southern League 2013
Hi I am sure Bob or I can supply an army,
I have less figures now as I am already lending 4 or 5 armies but if you let us know what you want, I'll check with Bob but I am sure he could do an ottoman / mamluk / white sheep army
Cheers
Alasdair
22 Entries (20 lists in) just two spaces left if anyone interested.

Re: Southern League 2013
Just to whet the appetite
Some of the historical match ups
Knights of St John vs Ottomans
Wallachians vs Ottomans
Hungarians vs ottomans
Persians vs Ottomans
Tuaregs vs Mamluks (sounds historical)
and also answered by game 1 that oft discussed historical questions which is better Hungarians vs Austrians so have a great New Year and see you on the 6th, and now many of you can probably work out your opponent but I will publish them all on sunday and needless to say some of the big hitters go head to head
just had a couple of late entries so some changes coming in
Cheers

Don,
Not next Sunday - unless you are giving Alasdair a practice game. It is Sunday week - 6th January.

Re: Southern League 2013
Morning all,
Best Sunday for a Clevedon round would be either March 24th or April 7th. These are the Sundays either side of Easter Sunday.
If anyone knows of other things happening on these dates could you please shout out.
Will sort out format and period on with Alasdair on 6th January at the Oxford round.
Thanks in anticipation

Re: Southern League 2013
April 6th and 7th is the BHGS Challenge which is in Brighton this year - 24th march is better.
What is the theme - something Eastern/Indian or late 16th century Western Europe around the wars of religion would be good!

Re: Southern League 2013
Don,
Indians would be my first choice
, but if we do TYW we would have to sort the Swedes out first
24th was better for me, as the week before my holiday.

Oh! Please can we discourage that sort of behaviour...
Reading the rules indeed...
Next she will be expecting us to know how to play the game rather than just making it up as we go along...

Yes you are talking to yourself...
I think that a TYW theme would be an ideal way to see if Swedes really are broken or not. While I suspect a LOT of players will take them (because they have them) I doubt they will sweep the podium places... If they do then maybe we return to the topic.
