28mm League of Augsberg Generals

Post by yar68 »

A little bit bigger than my usual 15mm figures, these newly painted figures are from the new-ish 28mm range from Warfare Miniatures. Check out my blog for a few more photos.

Thanks for this... now I know where I'm getting my heroic scale generals for my Louis XIV army :)

Just ordered WLOA19, WLOA20 and WLOA22 as my 'grand scale' generals.

Btw - can you tell me how they would fit on a 40x40mm base? Would there be room, and if so would there be room for http://www.leagueofaugsburg.com/shop/product-125.html this kind of setup? I'm thinking of 4 generals made up like this:

WLOA19 being 2 Generals, one being the C-in-C probably with a 15mm standard bearer flying a flag, the other being a sub-general.
WLOA20 being 1 General being handed his telescope by an assistant, leaving the other assistant for WLOA22
WLOA20 being 1 General with a assistant writing the message.

Hope they fit. I know it will be a tight squeeze, but I might even make them slightly bigger (deeper) than 40x40 so that they can fit easily and just recognise that I'll have to take that into account when measuring. Also, heads and tails hanging over the edge of a base is less of a problem with generals. I always try to keep my fighting figures well within the edge of the base (if everyone did that there would be no problems with making contact) but with generals they can just 'do their thing'.

In fact, with the 'spare general' I have from the order I might use him for the 'General in the front rank' marker...

Sorry for the late reply, but yep they would fit on a 40x40, but it would be a tight squeeze. I like the round bases for Generals, why not try them instead?

Yeah good timing - my order arrived last night :)

My plan will work well I think :)

I HATE round bases for generals. I don't like how they look when 'in the front rank'.
