Finally got some mileage out of a BB

Playing as the Central Powers. Adopting my own "no fleet disbandment" rule.

I loaded up a garrison unit in Konigsberg and sent it into the Gulf of Finland determined to "liberate" Helsinki from the Tsarist yoke. I was pounding the Russians hard along the entire front. Apparently the AI didn't have 10 spare PPs to build a garrison for the Finnish capital.

After securing the city, the Germans decided to move further up the Gulf, supported by the battleships of Admiral Scheer's High Seas Fleet. Petrograd was garrisoned, but the German commander decided to land southwest of the city to cut the main rail lines running from the capital. As the troops landed, Scheer bombarded the city. After two Russian counterattacks failed miserably with heavy losses, Scheer decided to order an attack on the city itself. Under the heavy fire of the fleet working close in-shore, the demoralized Petrograd garrison disintegrated and the Germans entered the city.

Two turns later Russia sued for peace.

If I win, and it is looking good since it is mid-1916, this will be my first game won by a much maligned (by me) battleship unit.
