I am new to the game and have just finished the Wehrmacht camapign on the medium difficulty level, which, I think is called Colonel in English. Now I am about to start the Grand Camapign and I am unsure which difficulty level will be challenging, but suitable to be played without constantly saving and reloading.
I am a Panzer General veteran and got through the Wehrmacht camapign without too much problems. Only the naval invasions forced me to reload a few times.

Re: Difficulty level for Grand Campaign 39-42 East
One of the most common thoughts from our players on the Grand Campaign DLCs is that it is quite a bit more difficult than the base game. This is a natural progression of the game though. If you managed to finish the basic game on Colonel with little difficulty, I would say General or Field Marshal should give you a pretty good challenge. If you complete those difficulties with little effort though, I highly recommend playing on the advanced difficulty levels.

Wow, thanks for the incredibly quick replay.
Is the AI better at General ?
By the way, what does DLC stand for ?

DownLoadable Content.
Although Slitherine also likes to provide the content as a physical product as well.

Re: Difficulty level for Grand Campaign 39-42 East
I will throw in that among the advanced levels, Rommel seems to me the most practical. Once you can play and win at Field Marshal, then playing with much less prestige makes planning more involved and forces you to refine tactics and equipment much more. Manstein and Guderian can be interesting but not necessarily sustainable for a whole campaign.
I think (someone can correct me) the AI is harder at General and FM, the difference between those two is experience level earned - much slower with FM. When you bump up to Rommel, you earn lest prestige (50%), but you do get the experience bumped back up to that earned at General level.

I think if you play 39-42 on Colonel or Field Marshal should not be too much difference.
It's definitely more challenging than the default campaign! But like in that, 39-42 is actually the easier time of the war for you.
From DLC 1942+ onwards I got my butt so thoroughly kicked that I am still traumatized. XD

The AI is much more aggressive on Field Marshall so you may want to stick with Colonel and see how you like it. The Grand Campaign / DLC is fairly different in a good way so you might want to get used to it before you up the difficulty level.Longasc wrote:I think if you play 39-42 on Colonel or Field Marshal should not be too much difference.
