Oh! So it should be in cover? Hmmm....I'm not sure how to fix that. Hopefully Jon hasn't left yet! LOL!
Re: GJS'44 - D-Day - Paras battle in Vimont and Villers-Boca
Please be advised that Gortwillsaveus has joined the German Team and will playing the impending Caen battle against kingt. I am sure you will join me in welcoming him aboard and as such, Mac, please advise Gort as to accessing the maps etc and the game password.
Clealy Gort will need time to become familiar with the rules, maps etc before engaging in the first battle. Many thanks for your patience.
Gort, no doubt will advise you as to when he is ready to commence the engagement in Caen.

Re: GJS'44 - D-Day - Paras battle in Vimont and Villers-Boca
Glad to hear everything is in order, and you're ready for Caen.
However, the Allied commander for Caen isn't me but jcb989. I believe he already set up the game and is waiting for an opponent to join.
If possible, we'd like the Caen battle to start because the other June 7 first battles are well underway already.

Welcome aboard Gort, I've added your name to the Caen battle. Have a look at the first post in this thread, it contains most of the info. Let me or Leci know if you have any questions.
Good luck.
Good luck.

jcb989: I'll download the map tonight, and get started asap. We recently played a MP game,...if I remember correctly you put up a tough fight.
Re: GJS'44 - D-Day - Paras battle in Vimont and Villers-Boca
Many thanks Gort. As per PM, our D1 units have depleted morale due to our supply chain having been cut in VB and V.

HOW TO POST LARGE SCREENSHOTS
Guys, thanks for your various heads up on Caen. I think I've found and fixed all of the "French House 4"s in the Cathedral district now... They will go live when I upload our battles for the 2nd wave of June 7th... Until then, Caen players please be wary to check the "cover%" before you move... 63% cover is a house, 13% is open flaming death, or risk thereof... Another particularly ingenius player (not yet in GJS'44) has discovered a secret path into the castle, but frankly, if you can find it, and you can get away with exploiting it, versus anything that your enemy has fortressed in there, then you deserve to have got in!leci wrote:Spotted another problem in Caen battle. Help!
For anyone hitting problems sharing >200K screenshots, the easiest way to do it is using an online upload/download account...
HOW TO POST LARGE SCREENSHOTS
1. Sign up to any free upload/download account
2. If you haven't already got one, please use this link -> http://bit.ly/freeDropbox4ScreenshotsEtc
3. That will sign you up to Dropbox which is reliable and gets both of us about 500MB of free space online
4. Once you sign up, this will create a "Dropbox" folder on your desktop
5. Drop anything into that folder and you can pick it up whenever you're online
6. However, inside that Dropbox folder is a "Public" folder that you can share with other folks
7. So, next time you want to post a screenshot, get the URL for that picture, eg. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/31228617/BA/GJS ... o/Caen.jpg
(they follow an obvious pattern, which the IT literate will easily see, but for people like me, you can just "copy public link" for that file from your Dropbox).
8. Then just type that URL into your forum post, select that text, and click the img button in the forum editor. Submit your post in the usual way.
9. Voila, the BA forum will pick up your screenshot from your Dropbox account no matter how large it is.
10. Sorted!
Greetings from somewhere warm that isn't quite the beach yet...

Re: GJS'44 - D-Day - Paras battle in Vimont and Villers-Boca
By way of illustration, here's the battle map for Hillman (since I see Hillman challenges from several of you from both sides, lol
).
I'm informed by Normandy gurus far wiser than me, that Hillman was actually taken from behind in reality... But let's see if you guys can crack it!

For folks seeking how to post >200K size screenshots, all that's required was to copy the Dropbox URL for this map, which is http://dl.dropbox.com/u/31228617/BA/GJS ... o/Caen.jpg, paste that into the BA forum editor, select that text, and click img.

Re: GJS'44 - D-Day - Paras battle in Vimont and Villers-Boca
Found the secret passage into the castle by accident ... I actually drove my Sdfk through the walls trying to get outside to take care of some nasty Commandos .... non-GJS'44 tournament.
Re: GJS'44 - D-Day - Paras battle in Vimont and Villers-Boca
These maps are just amazing! Great work Jon.
I saw you looking into those other vehicles that are in the editor...imagine how hard it would be to take out a jadgpanther from the front!?!?
would be awesome....88mm with 10 hex range and impervious front armor...(place evil laugh here...)
Can we please have them?? lol
Mike

Cautious to follow the steps exactly as I have a game going and do not want to possibly screw that up. If I try and just redownload I do not see anything to download. I think I will wait on Hillman until I have completed my game in progress.
