New Units - Requests & Sightings?

Pip, Iain & Team, As you can see we're all ecstatic you're raising the bar with a new BA2...!!

To start one little ball rolling on suggestions... Can I throw in some new unit requests for Eastern Front?

Welcome to the Battle Academy 2 forums. Opening them this early in the process is a new step for us, but we want to try getting your feedback and involvement in the whole process of making BA 2 the best game possible.

Battle Academy 2 will focus on the Eastern Front of WW2. Part of the process we go through will be deciding how the break out all the various battles and fronts in this part of the war into interesting and consistent campaigns.

We at Slitherine will be using these forums for our own discussions as much as possible, so you can both get to see how decisions get made and also tell us what you think should happen. We're not always going to be able to take advantage of every idea, but we always promise to listen and consider!

We'll be populating the forum with threads on some of the key new features and hope to see lots of people here giving their ideas and hopes for this exciting new step for Battle Academy.

T34 is bound to be in there somewhere... But please don't omit the IS-1 and -2 and the KV-1 and -2 heavy tanks...
Also, if the Soviets are gettting sexy armour, Germans should have the Jagdpanther and Jadgtiger tank destroyers... StuGs on steroids!!
For the Eastern front, they're going to need 'em.

I don't think there is any info regarding the time the game is set in yet?
I would assume it's rather late in the war (Bagration '44 would be my best guess) but please don't forget the most important tank of the Soviets in the first year: T26! Many games "forget" to include it, but it was built 11,000 times that's more than all Panzer IV's variants. Although of course later in the war it was not used anymore - it was actually a really crappy and outdated tank even at the beginning of the war from what I read. But for scenario creators that want to create something earlier it's an important tank.

- BT-7 fast tank
- T-26 light infantry tank
- T-34 medium tank
- T-35 just for fun:

- KV-1 heavy tank
- KV-2 heavy tank
- IS-2 heavy tank

It would also have two sets for infantry, one normal and the other for winter.
Also have ski infantry Soviet side with a movement bonus in case of snow.

It's going to be disturbing to BA veterans to have our Panther Ausf. Ds breaking down due to mechanical troubles. lol.

a dedicated sniper unit seems like a must.
I think a two-person (see what I did there?) team would be appropriate?
they would need some special trade-offs though to make them vulnerable to something... not sure what...

Yes! Smoke is something I think could really enhance the game. I don't care much for other additions of details (it's a low-complexity non-hardcore game, and I like it that way), but smoke would really add to the tactical possibilities when playing, not only historic chrome.
