exit game?

New to the game but I don't see any way to exit the game. I'm in the middle of a scenario and go to the save screen to save the game, then there does not seem to be any way to exit other than Alt-Ctrl-Del. Easy to go back to the scenario but no button to completely exit game so I can go to bed. I have downloaded all the patches. Am I missing something obvious?

There is a quit button on the main menu, as well as a Exit Game button above the Load/Save and options when in battle. Or are you talking about something else?

Oh Oh! There is a quit button on the main menu, but I cannot get to the main menu because there is no exit button on the load/save screen. There isn't much on the load/save screen so I could not miss an exit button if there were one. Thanks for your quick response.

Are you talking about the big red x above options on the load/save screen? When I scrollover that button it only says cancel and clicking it brings me back to the game not out of the game. BTW, I did not download the game but bought the disc from Matrix (probably, it's been a while since I bought it). I tried a reinstall from the disc which did no good. Any ideas? Thanks

When you save the game through the "Options" spanner button

in the game playing window you should get thrown back to the game playing screen - when its saved.
Then click "Options" spanner button again should give you the screen below, as you should have seen before you saved.
Both times you selected the options screen you should have had the Exit Button/banner at the top as ringed, so you can also exit without saving.

Ok. I just tried what you suggested again and no luck. There is nothing above the word load, no red banner nothing. furthermore in the options area I seem to be missing a option. I can't read it on your picture, but it is the bottom red banner on the right. In fact I have no red banners at all. MY options are - scroll speed, turn off easy mode, sfx, music, and game speed and none of them are in a red banner. I just noticed you have a button above options to the left of the new save area which I can't read but I don't have. Guessing it might be a delete save game. I definately do not have a pirated game. got it from Matrix and registered with Slitherine just a couple of days ago. Thanks for the help.

Richcat, I just noticed that I don't have the spanner button either. When I want to save I have to hit esc which takes me to the load/save screen. I wondered why there was no button to take me to the save screen.

I know you have said that you have downloaded the latest patches, can you see on the boot up screen what version you are running? 2.0.7 is the latest
(note to self I'm still running 2.0.6 - must remember to download update)

Did you download the demo version but more possible any betas for BA - as the betas have been know to create problems.

Thanks, I can read the image now and I do not have those buttons. And I can find no build info anywhere. I see your build 2.0.6 but I have nothing there. I didn't download a demo and no beta. Just straight from the disc. There are no more patches to download, so I must be 2.0.7 Very confusing.

It sounds like you don't have the latest patch. If you have 2.0.7 or 2.0.6 you will see the version number top left on the launcher window that pops up at the very beginning.

Up to now the patches have been automatic when I open the Battlefield academy they downloaded. I assumed there were no more because this doesn't happen anymore. So where do I find the patches to download?

You should still be notified about patches, even though we switched from automated install to using standalone installers it should still prompt you. Having said that we switched more than a year ago I think and so it could be a bug which has crept in.

Thanks guys, downloading 2.0.6 now. Should take about 40 hours. Hope it solves my problems with the game. Let you know. In the meantime I'm trying out the demo of Panzer Corps. Seems to be a great game too. Defititely goes on my list to buy.

OK. Finally got patch 2.0.6 downloaded, tried to extract the files and got the error message "unexpected end of file" Would not unzip. Anybody know what that means?

Sounds like the file didn't download successfully. Is there any way you can download from somewhere with a faster connection and put it on a USB or CD?

Thanks for the help. It seems to be ok now. I quit downloading 2.0.6, it never worked. I instead downloaded 2.0.7 and that seems to have done the job. I still don't have a build number displayed, but all the buttons are now present so it must be 2.0.7.
