AI Issues Playing as the Entente

Post by majpalmer »

1) The AI cannot respond adequately to British submarine operations in the Baltic.

2) The AI seems to have a problem taking Antwerp. Every Entente game I have started, I have held Antwerp. I supply it with a cruiser unit. In several games the Germans brought their battle fleet out to drive me away. In each of those games the German fleet was destroyed. In one game I go both the BB and the CA. I withdraw the infantry unit from Brussels to Antwerp and give it replacements. I pull the AC unit to a hex west of Brussels. You are going to lose the city anyway. It is not easy to get a supplied infantry unit out of a fortification. It can be done, but the AI can't handle that AND drive on Paris.

The one time I played the Entente I quit because the AI was so far behind. Maybe it had an unusually bad start but Serbia never fell. I had the Russians holding a very good line, I had my French theater starting an offensive and the Italians were well on the way to Vienna. Is it really unusual that I was able to hold Serbia? Would it be worthwhile to try again as the Entente? One thing that I did notice was the AI moved German units to Serbia and moved Austrian units to France. If the AI pays the usual RR penalty to the units when moving long distances, transfering Germans to Serbia and Austrians to France makes no sense. Also, they're not availabe for combat when moving.
