Disbanding to get different aux unit

Disbanding to get different aux unit

Playing Sea Lion 40, I disbanded a couple of submarines that weren't needed any more, thinking I would add at least 1 tach bomber but an auxiliary slot didn't open up, still said zero. Disbanded naval units don't count toward new aux land or air slots?
I tried using the code "aux 1" but it didn't add an auxiliary slot.
What am I missing? And does "aux 1" code usually work? Never tried it before.
Time was invented so that everything didn't happen at once.

Not sure about the code, but in general it may be rather that there are simply no free aux slots available.

Just because one aux gets disbanded or lost it does not open up a new slot to purchase more if the number of possible *new* (so not present at the start) aux units is lower then what's on the map already or even zero. That limit is defined in the scenario for both aux and core units.

All maps are designed with out replacements for auxiliaries.
