25mm Early Crusaders vs. Later Hungarian [w/pictures]

Post by camlan »

This was basically a game to test the 40mm=1MU vs. 25mm=1MU. Part of the report is here, and will follow up with the second half of the game. OUr feeling was the game on a 6x4' table using 25mm as our MU felt cramped, and the distances covered (i.e. 7MU's for LH), didn't seem to fit the scale of the game. Maybe I am used to the Armati move distances or even the WAB move distances (which are too extreme, IMHO). It will be interesting to see what ta 650pt game on an 8x5' table using 40mm=1MU will do for our 'perception'.

We played with what we had available, boiling things down to:

602 pts for the Crusaders using 3 Generals (IC+2 TC's)-8 BG's
628 pts of Later Hungarians using 2 Generals (IC + TC) - 8 BG's

I was the defender. We had only 3 terrain pieces (not counting the opens that were selected), and they fell on the outer thirds of the table. The brush on my side of the table ended up being a pain in the butt for me.

I will post the second half of the game later on. Plus, next week we will recreate this using the larger table/longer MU.

Oh great, leave us hanging

Excellent work.

BTW, my experience with tests at home is that 8x5 accommodates 800 pts but as you say, play with what you have.

Cheers,

Steve
