As I was playing through Kharkov 42 today my Bf-110 got an I3 hero. This means he now has two I3 heroes and to be honest I didn't know if that was really good or overkill on the initiative. So that lead me to wonder what are the actual mathematical benefits of any kind of hero.
I understand the benefits of S1, R1, and M1 but what about the difference between an A1 and an A2 hero. How does this actually change the behavior of a unit. Does anyone know the math behind this?
Hero Bonuses what do they really mean?

Re: Hero Bonuses what do they really mean?
A hero with an A2 trait gets an attack bonus on +2 on all his attacks whereas A1 only adds +1 to all attacks. These bonuses are cumulative, i.e a hero with A2 and A1 has a bonus attack value of +3 on all attacks.
These hero bonuses are really powerful and can turn a not so good unit into a really good one. An initiative bonus is really good since you get that bonus for attack and defense rolls which means the chance for you firering first is greatly increased which also means less unit losses.

You are correct but I guess what I am asking is if you have a unit with a soft attack value of 3 and then I get an A3 hero is my unit now twice as good?Resolute wrote:A hero with an A2 trait gets an attack bonus on +2 on all his attacks whereas A1 only adds +1 to all attacks. Yes, if you get a hit on the die roll.
Re: Hero Bonuses what do they really mean?
The payoff on that unit is when you use it air-to-air - it will outperform your best fighter. It is now a VERY flexible unit in that regard - air-air or air-ground. Not as much damage inflicted perhaps air-to-air, but it will not take damage itself. That's very valuable. Its initiative bonus is lost as air-to-ground, but very effective air-to-air. I would have wished that incredible bonus (2x i3) on a fighter or a tank, but I'd still welcome it on a Jabo. Normally I do not upgrade a Bf110/Me410 out of class, but that would be worth making an Fw190G for the air/air capability when it becomes available (I always skip the 190F anwyay, it's mediocre in the game). But even as an Me410 it will have excellent air/air capabilities until the end if you are playing Rommel and don't want to out-of-class upgrade it to a 190G.
If it were a vital part of your tactical air component, at this point I'd add another Stuka to take that job and transition the 110 to more of a principal fighter role.
