Today is the 70th anniversary of operation Uranus. Later it was made the date of "Artillerists' Day" in the Soviet Union.

I don't keep minute track of these things myself by any stretch. My girlfriend sent it to me; and even though she was 10 when the Soviet Union broke up, she still recalls this stuff from grade school.
