Hi Jon - if you can now get rid of the BA 'music' (I use the term 'music' lightly), you will be on 'a roll' - certainly (if not already) a legend in your own forum!

You mean get Slith to include an option to play our own mp3 playlists instead of recurrent do-do-dooo-do-do-do-dooo-dooooo... lol....

Well, while we wait for June 7, I'll go off topic and say that I can't wait to play a campaign like GJS in Russia. Kursk tank battle? Stalingrad breakout? :D

4.33 Relief Movements. A friendly BG can relieve a defending force by moving into a defended sector and then permitting the defender to exit. For a relief to be successful, both the entry and the exit movements must be completed before an enemy attacks. If the relief is successful, subsequent attacks will take place as an Attack vs a Fortified Defence (AFD), as if the defender had already been in position. However, if an enemy attacks before the relieving force can enter, the current defender will face an Attack vs Surprised Defence (ASD). If an enemy attacks after the relieving force has entered but before the current defender has departed, the new defender will face a Meeting Engagement (ME).

It's a logical addition that should help both sides over the length of the campaign... However, I'm aware that it could help the Germans more immediately than the Allies, so if anyone finds this contentious, please shout up... If necessary, I'm happy to put it on the Rulebook, but suspend it until June 9th, so that nobody benefits unfairly...
Interesting rule if orders come in in the right (lucky?) order. I say adding it from June 9 would be better though because knowing such a rule exists can affect the whole tactical phase and the strategy adopted by each BG when fighting.
Thanks for your feedback guys...

FINAL RESULTS OF PLAYER VOTING:

Rule 4.33: June 7th (3) v June 9th (2) - Will be implemented for June 7th
Tougher infantry: Yes (6) v No (0) - Carried unanimously and will also be implemented for June 7th

Voted: Leci, KingT, Random, Morge4, K9mike, Brummbar

As a result of introducing tougher (+50 base morale) infantry, Rule 8.31 will also be updated...
8.31 The base morale for all units in an "out of supply" BG is reduced: by 50 for all infantry, by 25 for all other units.

Sorry the vote didn't go the way you'd hoped KT, but think about it this way...

Until Germans can win back at least one of their supply zones, all German infantry will start with 100 morale (ie. it will take a loss of 50 morale to suppress them) versus all Allied infantry will start with 150 morale (ie. it will take a loss of 100 morale to suppress them)... In a straight infantry battle, there's only going to be one winner...

Germans will have to use cover very carefully, and hope that the Allies don't...

Bottom line, a lot depends on 21Pzdiv winning back Vimont or Villers-Bocage...

Not exactly fair to bump up morale on June 7 though. Yes, at 150 vs 100 in infantry vs infantry situations, Allied are favored, but we're not going to have only infantry vs infantry fights, not even in the sectors held by Paras, where German will have armor.

With German infantry at 75, units would have been far easier to suppress via combination of Mortar, Artillery and Armor fire. Thus some German forward moves could be stopped in one turn instead of multiple turns, especially in the sectors they need to absolutely take, which can't be taken by armor alone. I'm especially thinking about certain infantry units that could be silenced faster when starting with lower morale, HMG, FT, Scouts.

Not to mention that going through defenses would be easier and faster on other sectors, while we'd also have the chance to inflict more pain and at the same time save more Allied units in the process.

Remember German armour suffers "out of supply" morale down -25 too...
It's a lot easier to suppress a PzIV or a StuG on 75 morale than on 100.

Think of it this way KT...
The two Allied airborne BGs alone have 44 units (of all infantry types) that get +50 base morale from June 7th...
All four of 21Pzdiv's armour and mixed armour BGs, arriving on June 7th, only have 42 units that would have benefited, but now won't because of the "out of supply" penalty...

I don't think you're going to suffer unduly... Suck it and see... ;-)

One thing's for sure... If the Germans can win back their supply areas, they're not going to give them up so easily again...

At 100/75 Infantry/Armor they're stronger than at 75/75 and can afford making some mistakes, that's what I'm saying.

Let's put it this way, if we had known about the coming bump in infantry morale on June 7 (which I argued in favor of since before fighting started), maybe we wouldn't have paradropped in V and VG to begin with.
