At any rate, you should be able to make Morris pay for his early landing. I can't imagine why he is doing it when he knows Barbarossa will not be until 1942.

Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
They captured Brest from a German corps with BBs, 2 Tacs, and 1 weak mech attack? I think only because your unit had no entrenchment. Otherwise there's no way that would have worked.

Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
I believe Morris used 2 mechs, not 1.
Also even if corps survived at couple of steps, it change little. Brest is destroyed and can't provide supply, so germans can't hold there for one more turn anyway.

Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
Looking at the screenshot, I don't see how he could've used 2 mechs. Your garrison was in the way and he could not make it retreat without using one of the mechs. At any rate, having Brest a turn early definitely helps his cause. He can land troops and recover the PPs now, and supply will recover unless you keep up the pressure. It is a small advantage for Morris, but an advantage nonetheless.Plaid wrote:I believe Morris used 2 mechs, not 1.

Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
This turn we DoW and conquer Norway, just as planned. Defenders never stood a chance against 2 TACs and 2 mechs.

Also our counteroffencive against allied beachhead started with good results. I am quite surprised, that I didn't lost single
ground step, while destroying 2 british mechs. Minor damage was expected, but both allied units had effectiveness near 0 after
our TAC attacks.
Fighters also scored good rolls against RAF (we still have equal tech), unlike during battle of France.
Now situation with dog fight is totally different, then in 1940. Morris also have TAC bombers, which he have to escort, so he
can't simple repair fighters every turn and face same problems, that we do. I think in this conditions german significant
advantage in organisation should work well and we will win.
By the way british warships lack any ASW upgrades, so my subs score good hits on them here and there.
(Its clear accident, that I have all my subs around, never expected allies to land in 1941, they were just heading to french ports
for regular upgrades)

When should I get fort in Brest by the way? Because if it happens in 1941, it means that I lost my chance and had to live with
Brest being a city forever.

Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
When you capture it back you should have fortress respawn (I had such situation when I captured Cherbourg and then lost it).
I once used to capture Brest which was a fortress already with German MECH inside in one turn as well - I had very lucky shots including 3 battleships scoring 1 hit each. After that I had to wait couple of turns before I had supply from there.

Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.
Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
Looks to me that Morris is just trying a different version of his 'throw away the British' strategy.
I suspect you will find he will just try and bleed your PP's by taking Lutwaffe steps even if he loses each individual sortie.
Phase 2 will no doubt be the arrival in 42 of the early US invasion, just after Barbarossa if you are planning to launch one!

Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
Action in France continues. This turn luftwaffe suffered some damage, so I repaired most of my fighters.
Only 1 bomber (and 1 fighter escort) was used, but still we destroyed 1 mech and 2 corps, aswell as sunk BB.

Our Manstein HQ armour was reduced to 5 steps during allied turn by air and naval effort (and lost 1 more step in combat
with british corps), but still I hope that 4 step entrenched tank will not be destroyed by air and naval attacks.
Anyway, we have reserve commander in the area.
Next turn we should be able to start attackin Brest directly.

Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
Yes, april 1942 in fact. No time travel.
Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
Morris repaired RAF instead of trying to destroy my armour HQ, so it suffered only 1 step of damage from BB.
By the way this tank has ton of experience - even after I repaired it, was still 3 stars, meaning 75+.

We destroy one mech and badly damage another. Also Brest bombed into 1 supply again. Port will be taken in few turns obviously.
Quite good dogfight results this time. Advantage in effectiveness starts to work.

Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
This turn we finished off allied landing, destroying both 1 step mech near Brest and 10 steps defender corps.
Quite to my surprise at the end of my turn Brest becomes a fortress. Now it will be harder for allies to capture place again.

Some naval action aswell - with heavy air support we managed to sink DD and CV units. Other allied naval assets are heavily damaged
and have to return to their ports.

Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
This turn we managed to sink another allied BB with 3 naval attacks.

Weather is mud, so air attacks would not be very effective.
Not much to report, as I redeploy most of my troops to the east.

Only some naval action this turn - one of my battleships was reduced to 1 step, while we manage to destroy 6 step british one.
(Was not really hard, taken 2 attacks).

Also some air action with mixed results.

Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
No real action this turn. I am preparing my eastern campaign, which going to be defencive one.
I don't see any point in capturing part of USSR in 1942 summer, since I most likely will be forced to retreat anyway
(don't want to suffer SW troubles only because of holding few cities in Ukraine/Belorussia).
But we are preparing 1 turn conquest of Leningrad from Finland with 2 german mechs with offencive leaders, 2 paratrooper
divisions and lots of luftwaffe. We also have fair change of destroying this soviet fighter near Novgorod.

If my air recon units spot Morris deploying some infantry in 2 hexes south of Leningrad, operation will be canceled and
troops will be shipped back to Germany.

Re: Plaid vs Morris №3
1942 starts and USA enters the war.
In few more turns USSR will also join.
Here is casualties report

Its quite high, especially air ones, but british also suffered significant damage.
