And, a point that I made to someone (can't recall who) here:

We have far more "Original Sources" for Tolkien than we do for most ancient and medieval armies.

And to repeat what I said via PM:

The rate of change of technologies and cultures in Tolkien's Middle-earth is indeed slow, but it did not seem to affect the speed with which people learned things that already exist. The Later Rohirrim's culture (roughly 2750 - 3019; from the war with the Dunlendings to the War of the Ring) would not be appreciably changed by having 4 Regular Units/BGs in their army (0-1BG of 4-bases, and 0-3BGs of 4-bases to 6-bases, and these are optional as well).

As we do for Star Wars Storm Troopers. We can actually see them! Seems a bit of a stupid point.
At least we have physical evidence of the historical armies.

Why?
The rate of change of technologies ..blah blah...War of the Ring) .......
Belongs in the fantasy forum as this is no longer a rules or historical discussion.

putting the arg into argumentative, except for the lists I check where there is no argument!
