when does cover benefit for not moving kick in?

Does anyone know if unit has to spend a turn not moving to get the added benefit?

I think it happens after the turn starts, but you lose it when you move. I would have to check through the scripting to really tell - it's Iain code

What I'm trying to gauge is how ensure the bonus applies during my opponent's turn. It makes sense that it would not apply during my turn once I move (and my opponent takes "reaction fire") but does my moving a unit preclude it from applying during my opponent's turn?

Am playing Fast & Sneaky and the Allied artillery is murder...

I am 99.9% sure if you moved in your turn then it effects the next AI turn. If you want the full benefit you must not move. If you sneak you get some benefit but still not the whole thing.
