My ancient Spanish Army

Post by helot2000 »

To celebrate the v2 release and the ability to take 1/3 of the scutarii/caetrati as Superior, I painted up an ancient Spanish army.

30 bases of Caetrati

8 bases of Mounted Caetrati

I'll soon be posting my 4 generals including Sertorius and his Spanish legion at my blog, along with an AAR covering my first battle with the Spanish under v2. As a bonus for the ladies, Antonio Banderas provided a quick overview of the Iberians. Better pics and more info found on my blog, so hurry on over! http://twincitiesfieldofglory.blogspot. ... ish%20Army

Thanks Berthier!

8 bases of Legionaries HF make the difference in the Sertorius' Lusitanians list. In my first battle, one BG of 4 Legionaries withstood 2 charges by Heavy Chariots and the 2nd BG of 4 kept a flanking Cavalry unit at bay. Plus, I do love the story of Sertorius. Here is the man himself with his Spanish Legion.

Lovely job. I do like the three colour sheild patterns. Amazed at how many variations you've got in. I run out of ideas after about two shields.

Thanks Custor! With 150 scutarii, I did repeat shield patterns. As long as we keep it between ourselves, I think I might be able to get away with it.

The up side to Xyston is that you can paint the shields in batches. The downside is gluing 150 shields on the metal hands. Oh, and another 60 shields on the Caetrati and drilling out 60 small hands for the spears. I need to buy a dremel as a pin drill isn't sufficient for a project this large. Now I've got to get the camp up on the blog.
