May Squares Interpenetrate Friends While Moving?
Squares may move 1MU in any direction during the Movement Phase.
Could this move include an interpenetration of friends? Specifically, a stationary artillery unit.
The 1MU movement, assuming the square is up behind the artillery unit, would reach move than half-way through the artillery unit. Would the square then move the additional distance to clear the artillery (assuming sufficient space is in front of the artillery)? This would drastically increase the movement of the square.

I would be cautious about permiting this.
the teleport effect can really create weird situations.
So after your square teleported through the battery. The battery prolongs and teleports through the square.
Very sketchy.

Re: May Squares Interpenetrate Friends While Moving?
I agree. It shouldn't be possible. I just couldn't see anything in the rules about it. Now, maybe the 'squares can move 1MU' can be taken as 'only 1 MU.' But it was just something I noticed and wondered about.
Artillery prolonging is similar. Maybe 'prolong 2MU' should be 'only 2MU.' Prolonging 2MU won't quite clear a two-deep base unit. But it is more than half, so, according to the movement rules, the artillery would push forward in front of the infantry, basically giving the artillery almost 4MU movement.
Maybe both should be mentioned and restricted? Terry??

I've never had a requirement to move a square through an artillery unit, but I guess it's feasible. It does however all a square to move up to 100mm. I'll consider excluding squares from interpenetrating at all (voluntarily).I would be cautious about permiting this.

The teleporting prolong isn't allowed because ""Any single unit (not brigade group) cap pass through another freindly unit if the unit being passed through remains stationary throughout the movement phase." (pg40).

But is it allowable to prolong artillery up through an infantry unit, gaining the extra distance? Or should this also not be allowed?

Asks again: Should it be allowed for arty to prolong forward through a stationary infantry unit, gaining all that extra distance?
Terry??

personally hopes the answer is no, that would keep the Froggies from getting self propelled artillery up to my Austrians.

Should be no, otherwise the movement potential is silly.

I totally agree, so lets hope common sense kicks in
Re: May Squares Interpenetrate Friends While Moving?
At the moment the rules allow artillery to pass through another unit (not in 'march') by prolong with a single CMT.
Any change to this will need to be added to the errata.
Is it such a big problem? .... I've never seen it happen.

Obviously the Frenchies you fight against don't try to charge your troops with their artillery in the lead. If the rules allowed it I am certain I would have to face charging artillery. Blathergut is very aggressive with his artillery and he likes to move it up close. Might be an uncommon circumstance in your games but self propelled French artillery is a common difficulty I have to deal with in our games.
