In general I'd prefer a bit variety in music during a battle over spoken briefings or more big pics for the library. Dunno how other players think about it, but if it's not in AK maybe adding some pieces of music could be done in further XPs?

I'll get AK in ca. 2 weeks. Does it actually have new music?

AK adds two more tracks (only played during African scenarios).bebro wrote:I'll get AK in ca. 2 weeks. Does it actually have new music?

PzC's orchestral music is nice and sets proper mood, but I switched it off about 2 hours in the game. I just play my own collection in an external music player. I doubt developers will be adding much of it in the future, since it makes no sense - with such long potential gameplay Panzer Corps provides, any amount of even greatest music will bore listeners to death. And the money is better spent on something else.

Re: Music
The music for AK has a bit of a "Marakesh" sound to it. I found it quite atmospheric and enjoyable. Variety over time might be nice, as you say, though.bebro wrote:I'll get AK in ca. 2 weeks. Does it actually have new music?

Oh, and the voice-over for the briefings in AK were great. They used a new voice actor and the intonations and pronunciations were really entertaining. Definitely take a pause and listen to the briefings the first play-through. Overall, I thought AK was a fantastic expansion - familiar game, but enough new scenery, combat environment, weapons, opponents to really feel fresh and different.
PS - if you like more entertaining sounds/music, check out VP's "real sounds mod." They have put together a really comprehensive basket of sound mods for the game - for example SE units have various bits of authentic matching "lieds" (songs) during movement. Likewise, most unit movement sounds are authentic ones (and thus also varied by unit type), and combat sounds are likewise modded. It adds a lot to the game experience. Mix in some period-correct camo skins, and it really makes things a bit more fun.
Re: Music
Good to know know AK has some more tracks, thx guys.
And of course I know about VP's sound mod, it's awesome. He even provides a lot of additional sounds/sound packages for specific mods
I just thought some more of the "official" music would be nice...but yeah, using own music via external player is definately an option.

Re: Music
I'd still like to be able to mod ingame Music played per Scenario. That would mean for example to store lots of custom mp3-files in the official music folder and trigger them automaticly either by defining the mp3 filename in the scenario.pzloc or like it's handled with the briefings in giving the mp3 file the same name as the scenario. And it would be nice to further be able to trigger mp3-files with the in game trigger just like one can define ai actions, weather actions or notifications in the scenario editor. Why not add another button for music action?
So what would be the benefits? The modders and myself would be able to define time specific music (or speaches) to be played during each scenario and you can play any mega campaign for hours and hours without ever growing tired of the music. Let me give you some examples, what I'm thinking of:
Spanish civil war - Song 'Falangista soy' in scenarios where the Nationals are attacking, likewise 'Hymno de la Republica' for the Republicans and 'Hymn of the Legion Condor' ....
Poland - Speach of Hitler (Seit 5 Uhr 45 wird zurückgeschossen) and War Declaration by Chamberlain as well as polish national anthem and lots of marching music
1940 The speaches of Churchill 'Blood, toil, tears and sweat', 'So many so few' and German song 'Bomben auf Engelland'
From 1941 on the song 'Lili Marlen' in Versions of Lale Anderson, Susi Solidor and Marlene Dietrich
From 1944 on the German 'Motivation songs' of Zarah Leander, in D-Day Scenario the March from 'Longest Day'
These are only a very few examples of all the files that can be found in the internet, but I hope you understand what I'm thinking of. If only Rudankort would read this just once
My 2 cents,
Nils
