Not sure if players ever played wrg 7th ed and DBM (tt games). the former had fatigues, which would affect teh potency of missile damage and the latter could have the elements (wind, rain, snow, duststorm?). Shooting when it rained and a had a wind blowing in your face was not good.

Try being old enough to have been blooded on WRG 6th....

I rather miss all that chrome - weather, time of day, possible forward ambushes etc. as although it added complexity it also increased the feel of time and place... Also the commands and their 'orders' - Probe, Hold, Attack etc. ... All made it a bit more real...

I was a latecomer when it came to 5th ed but players would have a "thesis" on standing orders. basic orders could be Advance and engage enemy or take hill, stand and shoot advance if x is nearby bladibla. In other words, detailed orders. Wondering if anybody has concrete proof of orders given to units from those ancient days?
