OK Mr (I would love to do an anag of your name, hopefully not 3 names, but no idea who you are) T.I D.
Will issue a a challenge. We are having a friendly at the mo (Josephus' technicoloured revolting army vs a Third rate Easterly Roman army) but that game will take second fiddle to the battle of the Cheesy armies. Now where did I put my Cockburn's, biscuits and grapes.

Re: Festival of Pike, a small late medieval tournament
Eric (Med Danes) 31/40 vs Turk1964 (Swiss) 42/42
For me to have any chance I needed to win initiative and I did.
Even then it was very close, if I hadn't taken the 1 bp at the end of my turn, it would have been prob 1 or 2 bps in it at the end.
If Mark had won initiative, I would have been rolled over.
Cheers Mark

So what is going to happen to the other semi-final then?
As far as I am concerned, I have been playing for a draw since about turn 12 when calamity overtook my Swiss contingent. I haven't been trying to score break points since then really, I have been more concerned to shoot enemy troops below 75% so they are much less effective. In every competition I have played (I think), to win the game you need to break the other players' army. And that is how I have been playing this game. Otherwise, if I had known the rules were different, I would have rushed troops to help the Swiss as soon as they got into trouble. I made the decision to abandon them because I thought I still might achieve a draw.

Ok i will have my say here and then all concerned can decide what to do.There appears no provision in the rules for a draw,so if a draw is the result of the Match between T.I.D and Pete then i suggest a replay or the match be decided with a coin toss.Something needs to happen so there can be a Final match, otherwise it will be a dissapointing end to an interesting competition.
I will toss the coin if you both agree and then the contest can continue.
Cheers Turk

This is an odd comment as there are provisions in both the Field of Glory rule set and the tournament's rules for draws.Turk1964 wrote:There appears no provision in the rules for a draw
I shall await the counsel of King Eric for he has great tournament experience and because I consider him to be a reasonable fellow.

If points are equal after the group stage, the result of the head-to-head between the two equal players will decide who goes through. If the game was a draw, the player with the best overall combined percentage of BGs destroyed in their other games will go through. If there's a draw in the knockout stage there will be a rematch.
Doesnt appear to say anything about what happens in the Finals. Indicates what is to happen in the Knockout stage as in a rematch. So i would therefore think a rematch may be the logical step here if a draw is to occur.

I think that's the bit you missed. According to the rules of the game what is happening in the disputed battle is a marginal victory/defeat not a draw.Turk1964 wrote:If there's a draw in the knockout stage there will be a rematch.

Re: Festival of Pike, a small late medieval tournament
There should be a rematch if there is a draw, in the semi final and final match
Noticed that there had been no rulings made on what would happen if there was a draw in the semi or final stages.
A toss of a coin does not seem right to me (as Turk hinted upon) and so I vouch for a rematch.
Would help me as well as I will be looking to get LOEG 9 up and running and have very limited time nowadays.

If not just make a duel. One commander only for each side. Both Inspired so they are equals ato cohesion etc.
Fight each other on a flat terrain.
That would add some flavor
Cheers!

Re: Festival of Pike, a small late medieval tournament
Alas, it is at this point that our tale must end. After treacherous mutiny from the dregs of the ship's company, the vessel was soon floundering, only for it to be dashed upon uncharted rocks that, although known about, nobody had felt important enough to tell the ship's captain were there. The good ship Festival of Pike, the most lustrous and resplendent vessel of its age, went down with the loss of all hands.
Whatever the reasons were for the downfall of this great enterprise, the buck must always stop with the ship's captain. So I can only say that it is with regret that I was not able to deliver the precious cargo - the flaming torch of honour and chivalry - to its destination but I have at least gone down with the ship, at my post to the end, ready to defend the honour of knightly virtue and indeed the honour of honour itself.
So, let this tournament serve as a testament to the folly of man! Sometimes a wrecked ship on the ocean floor has its own curious worth and fabled treasures held within...

Hi TID
Thanks for the tourney.
A shame it ended the way it did but I believe a rematch was the right thing.
Cheers
Eric
