Have you seen the heroes that are attached to some of your units if you start DLC 42-43 West without importing your existing core force? WOW! As an example, one of the SE tanks has one hero who has Attack +2; Spotting +1; and Movement +1. I'm not sure if you get awarded heroes like that throughout the campaign, but I like it! Also, if you import your existing core force from DLC 41, you get 8 core slots, plus up to 4 SE units for a total of 12 units; but if you don't import an existing core, then you get 12 core units, plus two SE units, for a total of 14 units. I'm liking this DLC a lot, and I haven't played through the first scenario yet!
Great Job!

Re: Multi-attribute Heroes in DLC 42-43 West
You'll need all you can get BUFF jockey. But glad you mentioned the non-import hero benefits... Currently I am commencing hostilities on Etna Line North having origianlly imported some lucky SOBs from the Eastern Front. Any hero I have accumulated on the Western Front has been the ususal type (Movement +1, Spotting +1, Chick Magnet +3)
I like the feature of how units disappear upon arriving at Evacuation Zones (instead of cluttering up the map) Nice, cool new feature Kerensky and team! If the game continues to be improved with every version update, imagine how she'll look and play a year from now...

Re: Multi-attribute Heroes in DLC 42-43 West
By the latter beta test, I was liking the way the "stock" units got buffed (pun intended) a bit to give a variety to make them worth playing with. Even so, it does make the first 2/3rds of the campaign harder, especially because of the fewer and less robust SE units at the start, but also because it takes a while to build up tough artillery units vs. just being able to import some. Those heroes are for the stock core from what I could tell; the earned rewards later are conventional like naughtybalrog (new ID, I take it?) said. Oh, except for that +2 sword of enchantment. I have no idea what that is for...
BUT - if you like those heroes, wait until later. There are some interesting hero-ed aux and reward units, regardless of which core you start with, stock or imported.

Interesting Kamerer! Thanks for the back story. Love the new hero ability ideas: wish we could gain a "stealth" recon unit... hey, that just gave me another brilliant idea: a female spy unit who sneaks and seduces the enemy leadership into a stupor of lethargy and inaction. Kind of like me right now.
My ID is not new... although Deducter gave me an idea for "Glob of Doom"

Thanks for the additional info guys! This old BUFF jockey is very satisfied with all the PanzerCorps products so far. Maybe in AlliedCorps they will give a prototype B-52 for me...that would rock!
They would have to use some "creative license" since the first BUFF didn't actually fly until 1952...but what the heck, this is all in good fun!

Always great to hear feedback like this.
In the past, we were constantly running into the problem where pre-made CORE were woefully under powered compared to imported COREs, primarily because of the abundance of heroes that came with an imported force. While this wasn't necessarily a bad thing (we WANT people to import their forces and continue their campaign with the forces they've carefully build and crafted) it was a sore point never-the-less.
Putting some of our newest features to use, in this case hero placement through the editor, its possible to make a pre-made force that isn't necessarily better than an imported one, but one that is effective at managing the campaign and also one that carries some interesting flavor to it as well. You can't ever get a single hero with multiple attributes, and manual placement of these heroes gives us the flexibility to go beyond normal restrictions (+4 attack), giving pre-made forces a distinct flavor and interesting twist in a way that doesn't really challenge the intended superiority of imported CORES.

Funny, I always recall "balrog" but I guess I always missed the "naughty" bit? Very not like me!naughtybalrog wrote:

I realized right away it would be fun to play the stock core all the way through with those "buffed" heroes. The last beta or so, I played with the stock core. That a+4 unit, around Salerno I got another a+2 on it. So it was +6, with still only two hero awards taken. So what would it get later? If it got a high defense, attack, or initiative award, it would become just a terrifying unit!

Thanks for giving us some development thoughts Kerensky!
Giving pre-designed cores more "bite" gives this game better re-playability. This is such a great game and it gets better with every update and GC release.
I believe it is highly realistic to have hero blokes transfer to another unit and bring his "special skills" to bear on a group that is facing a tough fight. Happens in the real world so why not here.
That you empower Mod Designers with better tools is what makes this product truly rock. It enables designers like Nikivdd and Chris (and Mongo and others) to create Mods as good as any drug for me.

Might have to rename such a hero, "Mars - the God of War"Kamerer wrote:Funny, I always recall "balrog" but I guess I always missed the "naughty" bit? Very not like me!naughtybalrog wrote:

Born of the humorous idea that a Balrog could be mischeivously ill-tempered instead of pure chaotically obsessed evil reminded me of the dichotomy of Dr. Evil in Austin Powers: a world domination meglomaniac with a heart...![]()
