Hello Churchlakecity!
Here are two units I like very much, one was not a prototype, but was in RAF service (W. Whirlwind) and I would like to see it represented in game... The other is the Wesland Welkin, sort of "big brother" of the Whirlwind, this was only a prototype (I think). Thanks!

Re: Allied prototypes
Hello churchlakecity, unfortunately I have found little time to look up and compile a list of protypes/limited production vehicles for you, I'm just too busy and I will be for at least another week, probably more. Especially the crazy stuff is hard to investigate, but for a lot of relatively 'normal' Allied prototype units, there is a decent amount of info to be found on the internet, so I'll just give you some good links for now. With these you can at least collect and sort out some information about which units you want to model. I hope you don't mind that I can only give you some 'homework' for now?
A lot of US and UK experimental armour (incl. some pictures) is included in this book, hopefully you can access it through your ISP:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/42089426/Brit ... ks-1939-45
For American test vehicles, (with 'T' designations) which sometimes became production vehicles, sometimes stayed experimental, this list:
http://www.wwiivehicles.com/usa/name-de ... hicles.asp
Some seemingly reliable info about American armoured vehicles, including the M6 and M7 tanks, and some other obscure vehicles:
http://afvdb.50megs.com/usa/index.html
I didn't find a good one for Sovjet units, but this thread elsewhere has some good info and a few pictures (and includes some other nations as well!)
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=73088
These links represent a lot of info together, but they require some reading. I would really like to help you better, but posting all that info here about all those vehicles will take a very long time, and unfortunately I'm quite busy lately. So let me know if you can use this information, otherwise I will try to make a (more limited) list for you, but that will not be possible until next week I'm afraid. Entschuldigung.
