Free LF bows

Post by flatsix518 »

Especially since the Decline and Fall army list appeared, there are a lot of armies with BG's that can have LF bows included in the unit.

The problem I see is that these LF shooters are "free" -- no additional cost. In some lists (ex. Dailami) the units without the LF bows cost the same as the units with the LF bows. There is no downside to selecting these units -- no additional cost -- no apparent disadvantage in play.

I think if the army lists that have the LF bow option of at no additional cost continue -- no one will be playing anything else. These should be viewed as desirable options -- but at a cost. Maybe 2pts for avg LF bows and 3 pts for sup LF bows.

Best regards,

John

I've commented about this before in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=84&t=35275

Other players seemed to agree that this was something worth reviewing. I'm undecided as to whether I would prefer an extra points cost or some kind of other penalty to counter-balance the mixed LF benefit.

Rule changes to FoG seem to be in stasis and I don't think anything will be changed until FoG mk II/FoG 2.0, whenever that may be.

I believe Keith had intended to make them cost an extra point in one of the revisions but apparently never got to it. Probably something that Cothyso can look at after the re-implementation is complete.
