It might look unusual first, but technically everything is fine. Wings have the same length each and everything is perfectly centered. edit: well, the only thing slightly off might be the canopy. But wings and fuselage in general are ok.

What happens here is the result of perspective and the "V" config of the wings, which means that both left and right wing "face" the virtual cam in a different angle. You get similar effects on other planes, but here it's stronger 'cause the wings are so long.

Here's a 4side view of the model incl. one render in perspective:

Like many things in life it looks odd but it's correct.

I have also noticed this phenomenon with a few other unit as well, mainly with the bigger ones, and decided to re-touch the image by reducing the lenght of the upper wing a bit for the Hungarian version (top left), if its all right (maybe its a bit too much, though):

Image

For me it looks more natural, somehow. Indeed, it has to do something with the perspective and the way we are used to see things with our eyes. It might be O.K. from a technical point of view but still unusual to see it.

By the way, congrats for finishing with all the vanilla icons they look so much better than the original ones and I will definetely use them for the Hungarian campaign.

Bebro: With the utmost respect for your work and schedule... Would it be possible sometime to upload some of the units you already gave the community here but with different camo scheme options? For example: It would be excellent for me If I have available a version of the He-177 for ground bombing and another (with different camo, to be readily identifiable visually) for maritime attack... I hope to have been clear with the concept. All plane models with "multipurpose" capabilities will use this different camo options (He-111, Ju-88, etc...)

McGuba: no problem, just modify anything you like. I think your Hungarian Ju88 looks great. It's probably even closer to the perspective of the stock PzC units.

The problem for me was just that I had of course no access to the original 3d cam settings used to make those units, so I had to improvise to get something similar. It's not 100% the same, but for me it works, esp. since I replaced all aircraft with my gfx ;)

guille1434: how many planes and camo schemes are we talking about here? Because at some point the workload would simply be too much when I have to make lotsa different versions of many planes. If it's only a handful it should be no prob, I only need to know what patterns you want then.

BTW, I haven't read the DCS thread recently, is there any indication that DCS might get expanded to skin aircraft? In that case I could just provide grey versions, so that people could happily skin away using DCS and patterns they like.

It still doesn't work 100% with aircraft. But I remember that I was able to use it anyway with aircraft, at least with the normal size. At least I was able to create a couple of FW-190.

Bebro: Thanks for your answer! Mainly I was thinking about having distinct camo schemes for the aircraft with specialized torpedo - maritime attack versions... The He-111, Ju-88 and He-177, and maybe the Do-217. So, one more "maritime-type" camo scheme for those aircraft would be excellent for me... I think the DCS can be made to work with aircraft... but your finished camouflaged aircraft icons would be vastly superior to the results I could achieve with the tool...

So, when and if you have time, one more maritime camo scheme for those three units (or four if you count the Do-217) will suffice to mod in game the naval attack versions of those aircraft and being able to tell them apart visually in the game map. Then, if you release the "grey" versions in order to use as base icons for the DCS you would make your work from awesome, to simply perfect!

Thanks bebro, you are very kind!

Well, that should be no prob. I can do those until ca. next weekend, or maybe a couple of days more if real life comes in the way. But you could help me if you post some pics/links of color/camo patterns you have in mind for those planes :)

Ok! For the Do-217, as I see that the one released has a grey camo, you could make a green camouflaged icon, as in this example (from Wings Palette)

And here you have some examples for the He-111 (mediterranean theatre scheme), He-177 and Ju-88. Dont need to be VERY accurate imitating the camo scheme, I think to make some "look-like" schemes to the posted here (different from the already released) will be enough to differentitate the new aircraft versions from the "unit factory standard" icons. All of these illustrations are from Wings Palette web site.

Thanks a lot!

Missing Hungary flag on plane facing left.
Also, the Roundel should be the triangle not the flag. Check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Hungarian_Air_Force

Missing Hungary flag on plane facing left.
Wov! Nice catch!
Actually that's why I wrote:

indicating, that I only reduced the wing of the top left image (facing right) for the Hungarian version. So that it is comparable with the original (German) version (facing left) with the longer wing. Obviously that image is for demonstration only, the final version will be all-shiny-all-Hungarian. :)
Also, the Roundel should be the triangle not the flag.
Yeah, it should be if the Ju-88 was used by modern day Hungarian Air Force.
But seriously, in WWII the tri-colour triangle roundel was used from 1939 to early 1942. And the Royal Hungarian Air Force received its first Ju-88A in 1943, when there was a new system of insignas in use, the white cross on black background and the national flag on the upper tail section. This picture is from 1944 (Hungarian Eagles - The Hungarian Air Forces 1920-1945, Hikoki Publications, 1996):

Working on those bombers, guille. Little preview:

Image

Well, for the Do215 I just took the existing camo I also use on the Do17 etc. since I thought pattern-wise it's similar to the one depicted, just a slightly different tone. Are you ok with those?

Bebro: they are absolutely awesome!!! Far better than anything I could do. With this alternative patters, new versions of the aircraft added to the equipment file wil be readily told apart in the map!

Infinite thanks!!

Thanks again! I was thinking, if it is only a thing of copy/paste (that is a quick & easy to do thing), would it be possible to add to the pack another He-111 with the camo you used for the Ju-88 in the preview, and a Ju-88 with the yellow camo of the He-111? This way, we would have a He-111 and a Ju-88 icon for the Mediterranean theatre and icons of the same aircraft for the maritime attack versions in NW Europe (Atlantic, North Sea).

I don't want to abuse, and I don't know if it is easy tho "port" one camo scheme from one plane 3D model to another... So this would be desirable if is not adding disproportionate work to you. If it is not possible, don't worry, as you already have been very kind to pay attention to this special request!!
