Yes, I have some. Depends on what you're looking for, because 'prototype' can mean anything, like a mild steel drivable armoured vehicle, to a completed series of test vehicles which could actually be used in combat. But after changing doctrine/design criteria, or dissapointing evaluation or trials they would not go through with production, so they would remain prototypes.

It's hard getting reliable info on most of these, but I sometimes come across small pieces of information not mentioned on wiki-like sites. For example, when testing AK I refreshed my knowledge of Italian armor and stumbled upon some good info about some rare vehicles/prototypes. I also have access to a ton of books (not all reliable), where there are often references to obscure equipment.

But you asked for allied vehicles from 1944-1946, so, on the top of my head I'll give some examples, let me know if there is anything in particular you are looking for, it depends entirely on what you would like to know more about. To be honest, there are a ton of actual production vehicles which are equally interesting, and not well known. So prototypes usually only interest me if they were actually tested/trialled in near-production form.

Examples:

About the A39 Tortoise, sorry, can't resist, turn the volume down before you start this, it's gets quite noisy after 20 seconds:

Here's the T-28,the US Super Heavy Tank

http://www.bing.com/search?q=t-28+tank+ ... p=2&sk=SS1

In the Wiki article there are links for the T-29 and the T-30,both were grand daddy's of the M103

Hello Churchlakecity, I can look for more, but I see the list now also incorporates pre-1944 units? You asked for 1944-1946 prototypes, but I see a lot of pre-war stuff being posted, so I'm not sure what you are looking for exactly? I will try to explain:

I looked for real, existing protypes of tanks and aircraft from 1944-1946, which are very few.

If you include 'paper' projects (like most of the German jets for example, only drawings, never made or tested) there are some more, but these are not prototypes, just designs on paper. I know a couple, but usually there aren't any pictures or good drawings available.

And if you include the whole war, not just 1944-1946, well, in the early years there were more experiments, in the later years they mostly tested variants of standardized models, while the Germans went wild with all sorts of projects.

I'll look around for some extra things, but these will mostly fall outside your original criteria, and I'm not sure if that is what you want?

And about extra units: I already posted this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_je ... rld_War_II , did you look at all those airplanes in there?

Apart from production aircraft (like the P-59 above), some other prototype/test/concept allied airplanes from the 1940s I could dig up, most are actually research planes, not prototypes for actual combat aircraft. I missed a couple but there is quite a list:

I've basically hit the same snag.

Most of the stuff had already been mentioned,or was an actual veh/weapon system

IE:M-48..Centurion..T-54...etc.

Is this for another project?

I'm sorry, I've been a bit busy lately... Well, yes, I can dig up a couple more prototypes I guess, you've already finished all those aircraft?

To be honest, I have some plans to make some icons for a few specific vehicles myself, mostly Allied mobile AAA (Flak) and transport/engineer units, since I have done a few convertible ant-aircraft ones already (see Guille1434's thread), and there are already tons of planes and tanks available in mods. So I've been collecting information on those mostly, but I will check for tanks/armoured vehicles for you. But most of it will be variations of existing tanks (different armament for example), and the early-war prototypes are often badly obsolete.

I have couple of questions, if you don't mind? Can you please post some sort of list of the tanks/vehicles you already know about? It will save me some time reading and having to post up all those links. I'm going to read through a couple of books I have, see what I can find, and it's easier if I have a list to compare to.

By the way, I can read basic German, so if you have any doubts about translation to English words, you can ask/post something in German for me if the mods allow it.

Dear THvN,thanks for your help.
I don't finished the aircrafts yet. My system is that i first make tanks/ground vehicles for all nations, than aircrafts, than infantry.
For the germans i have tons of information, but i can need more allied units. Some i have already finished.
To post a list here is rather impossible, because my existing material from the allies is not sorted yet.
Post all what you can find or what you not found in other mods but what you want to have in the game.
I collect your and other ideas then i sort them in different categories. Post all,tanks/ground vehicles,aircrafts....i can use them all.... :D
You can post other unit-wishes too,not only prototypes.....

Thanks for your help again
