Hero bonus distribution altered?

I played through with the stock core - so all bonus awards are for GCW42/43 combat. Here's the distribution at the end of the campaign:

Bonuses: frequency/Type/Strength
1 - Attack (+1)
1 - Defense (+1)
4 - Initiative (2x +1, 1x +2, 1x +3)
1 - Movement

4/7 were initiative.

That's the weirdest distribution of bonus type I've ever seen. Very favorable in my opinion, but very weird. The distribution of strength looks normal, but the type distribution is weird. I always found initiative bonuses the rarest of all - I'm not sure of the formula but I thought rarer than attack or defense. Is there something tweaked or did I just get a really statistically anomalous result over the campaign?

I also noticed some units getting hero bonuses on their first or even 2nd combat - that happened twice to scenario-supplied core reinforcement units. So something has changed at least a little in that regard in this campaign. But type also with initiative boosted?

Other than speeding up acquisition of the first hero, I'm not aware of any changes made to the hero system.
Anyone else having similar experiences?

OK, perhaps my experiences on that campaign were just a statistical outlier. Maybe I should but a lottery ticket?

My first play-through, I had the following:

T34/41 reinforcement at Bayonne, in+1 hero bonus on 1st combat.
Kv-1 reinforcement at Dieppe, in+2 hero bonus on third or fourth combat.

Perhaps those are in accord with the more rapid bonus system in the new campaign style.
