How many ally contigents can you take in FoG?

I can't seem to find it, but how many ally contingents can you take from the same allies list?

ie in the 'Thirty Years' War Danish' list in 'Wars of Religion', can I have two German mercenary allies contingents (assuming they conform to all other limitations)?

If not, where does it state this in the rules or army lists?

From my reading you can, as the lists will state "Only one allied contingent may be fielded" if you can't do something like this.

For each allied contingent from the same list, this will be limited to the number of Ally generals that those lists have - I don't know of any lists that have more than 1 Ally General. Thus if the Ally contingent you want to take limits the Ally general to 1 then you can only take one ally contingent from that list.

However you could take another Ally from another list if your principal list permits it.

For example if you are using 30YW French then you could take one Ally contingent from both the Later30YW Protestant and one Ally from the Later Swedish. As you will note from page 52 and 58, each of these allies allows only one ally general. Therefore you couldn't take 2 x Later 30YW German allies.

For once, what Don says is not entirely correct.

You _can_ have two ally contingents from the same ally list, but only if the main list says so. For example, the German states list in Trade and Treachery allows up to 2 ally contingents taken from the German States Allies list. So does the Later German States list in Duty and Glory.

Now if I'd written all the lists or used the German States Allied list I would have known that!!!!!
