Routing and Pursuing

Post by Eques »

1) If more than one BG causes an enemy to rout, who pursues?

1a) Can a BG that did not cause the break pursue and if so does that relieve the BG that did cause the break of the obligation?

2) Do you have to pursue if you break an enemy with shooting?

3) With regard to taking a CMT to stop pursuing do you only have to take one if you are actually in contact with the router?

4) If you choose to pursue when you don't have to can you then abandon the pursuit at any time?

Thanks

Hi there.

Here we go:

1 - All BG's in contact pursue unless they are able to test not to such as some foot breaking mounted.
1a - See above.
2 - As above only BG's in contact therefore shooters would not be in contact.
3 - Yes
4 - Whilst you are still in contact you have to take a CMT to break off pursuit. Note BG's below their break-point bases come off the table in the joint action phase.

Thanks.

So with regard to point 3, if I break a BG and then lose contact because of our VMD rolls, I can then decide not to continue pursuing?

And just to confirm, a BG that wasn't previously pursuing can suddenly decide it wants to and thereafter the normal pursuit rules apply?

Once you break contact the pursuit is ended.

You can only repursue by charging again in your next impact phase.

Often the broken BG will be long gone.

I think that answers both your points.
