obstructions
Hi All,
A terrain type "Obstacle" states that it is otherwise treated as a FF. FF's have a front and a back. Does an "Obstacle"? That would mean an enemy can very very rarely make use of an "Obstacle"

Re: obstructions
No, the first BG to arrive at an Obstacle from either side can defend it (if an appropriate type of course).

Re: obstructions
Sorry, that one is down to common sense. Most such obstacles were hedgerows, sunken lanes, drainage ditches etc., hence fairly symmetrical.ravenflight wrote:Rules reference please?kevinj wrote:No, the first BG to arrive at an Obstacle from either side can defend it (if an appropriate type of course).
(Sorry if common sense doesn't suffice for you or your opponents.)
(But not very sorry).

Well, the rules wording states that it ISN'T the case. You can't argue common sense in a game where someone says 'here's the rules'.rbodleyscott wrote:Sorry, that one is down to common sense. It's on the same page as where it says that terrain pieces either "belong" to one player or the otherravenflight wrote:Rules reference please?kevinj wrote:No, the first BG to arrive at an Obstacle from either side can defend it (if an appropriate type of course).

Re: obstructions
Well, I guess my point is more 'what's the difference with field fortifications?'
I mean, I've seen reconstructions of the FF's at Nagashino. It seems to me 'common sense' that if the FF at Nagishino wasn't defended that an enemy would be able to use it just as easily from the other side, but that is expressly denied in the rules.
Anyway, I'll use my 'common sense' and hope that I don't come across any rules lawyers.
