I would like to buy Commanders:Europe at War but I'm a little confused by the UK pricing.
When I go to the slitherine shopping basket it gives me the option to pay either
£29.99 or €39.99 (£27.78) or $49.99 (£24.03)
Is there anything stopping me from paying for the game in dollars?
And why is it more expensive to pay in sterling?
Oddly the matrix games site has the same dollar price ($49.99) but only charges £25.99 in sterling.
Also, on a somewhat related topic, once I get to the penultimate stage of the slitherine checkout an extra 15% tax is added.
Which is fine but shouldn't it be 17.5% VAT in the UK?

We are an international company and price match the game across Europe and the US. Currency rates fluctuate so this is a moving goal. As retail prices vary from country to country prices vary slightly here too as we have to price match the local retailers. Your price will match your location when you set this up as part of your order. Digital River charge all the taxes and I have no idea how they work them out, but it might be some European wide tax treaty with the USA.
Matrix are only selling the game in the USA so their prces are different.

Thanks for that, but it certainly looks like Matrix are selling the game in the UK (and for a slightly lower price).
Don't know if this link will work but...

Also, the question which I was most interested in was -
Is there anything stopping me from paying for the game in dollars at the Slitherine checkout? (and thereby paying a lower price)
It doesn't seem to object to me doing so.
Although perhaps it would do once I tried to confirm the order.
Perhaps I'll just try placing the order and see what happens.

OK. Now my bank has updated their website I can see that the total cost to me is £28.42.
Which is nearly a 20% saving over paying in sterling.
Which is a little odd really given that I'm a UK customer buying from a UK developer.
Not that I'm complaining of course.
I just hope you're not losing customers over this.
Since it is a very good game.
And I think it deserves to be hugely successful.
