Hi
I think about a little problem with flank march placement. As you didn't have to make a plan of your deployement, how can you note that you want to make a flank march ? If you write something on a piece of paper it can make thinking your opponnent that you are doing a flank march. The system for ambush placement is very great, is it possible to do the same thing with flank march ?
During the deployement, the players must place Flank march marker, one on each side. On the non visible side of the marker, the player can write "None" for dummy marker or the name of each battlegroup if there is a flank march.
What do you think about i ?

It's not generally a problem for one-off friendly club games. Competitions are a different matter.
The rules haven't been written stricly for competition play. We didn't want to put off those players who hate competitions.
An idea might be to post a 'suggested rules for competitions' section on the website - when it's available. It could then include this suggestion, the updated scoring system, and any other ideas that people come up with that are useful for competition play.
In general I normally note down BG's which are flank marching on my army list before deployment. Lots of people make notes about games as they are played, so the fact that I'm writing something down doesn't necessarily mean that I'm flank marching.

I usually write my potential flank march down in advance. Then all I need to write is R or L, or even just crease the left or right corner of my army list. (This being written down on the list as a prearranged code).terrys wrote:In general I normally note down BG's which are flank marching on my army list before deployment. Alternatively you can get into the habit of always writing something - so your opponents get used to it.
However, I don't like the idea of using flank march markers as it reminds your opponent of the possiblity and takes away the element of surprise unless you do it every game, which seems to me rather tedious and silly as well as unaesthetic.

That depends on the rules of the tournament. However, as far as I am aware, all beta tournaments held so far have required the order of march to be submitted with the army list - hence written once in advance for the whole tournament.carlos wrote:Related question. Is one supposed to write the Order of March ahead of each game in a tournament? I mean, is that supposed to be in one's list for a competition? Because at the moment, I write an order of march before every game, depending on the terrain and my opponent.
The aim is to streamline game set-up as much as possible so that people can get on with playing the game.
That is correct. All tournaments have yur OOB set at the outset inthe army list. It saves time and makes you think about the best overall concept rather than trying to find that one off special in each game. Then you can concentrate on winning fiar and square each time!carlos wrote:
