How to Edit Starting Core in GC '39?
I'm starting a new Grand Campaign '39, Rommel Difficulty Level and would like to edit the starting core before the Poznan scenario. Specifically to replace the towed Anti-Tank Gun with a towed Artillery and switching the Gebirgsjaeger to Wehrmacht Infantry. What files do I need to edit and where is the location of these files? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I'm using Panzer Corps patched to 1.05b. Thanks.

Why don't you disband the units you don't want and buy the units you want?

Jaggy... pull the Poznan map and the Poznan pzloc out of the DLC'39 folder.jaggy wrote:I'm starting a new Grand Campaign '39, Rommel Difficulty Level and would like to edit the starting core before the Poznan scenario. Use the map editor to replace the units you want the place them both back into the folder and overwrite the vanilla map and pzloc
Of course maake a back-up of the vanilla maps and place them somewhere safe.
If you need more help drop me a pm and I'll either walk you thru it or even change the stuff for you

@airbornemongo - Thanks for the procedure. I will give it a try first, always good to learn something new, providing I don't mess it up.
@VPaulus - When you disband your units in the very first scenario you receive zero prestige.
At FM level, you start with 1,000 prestige, at Rommel, its 500. Upgrading your Infantry (1 Wehr & 1 Gebirgs) to trucks takes another 100 prestige, leaving you enough to buy a single self-propelled artillery or tank. I never use Anti-Tank Guns, so would be nice to swop the default ATG with an arty piece.

airbornemongo101 - you da man!
After figuring that double-right click on a unit in the map editor removes that unit, everything else fell into place. When I tried it out, there were no changes but then I realised that I was loading from a saved game. So I restarted a new game and the changes were there.
Thanks for the heads-up on editing. As a reward:

Funnily enough, no gun bunny in there.

You can do this also a bit more quickly with cheat codes - just disband the unit, then award yourself the prestige you would have got in a normal deployment phase. Airbornemongo has shown you the more technical way to do it; but knowing the cheat codes is handy, too as you can make quick adjustments on the fly. They are (almost*) all here if you are not familiar:
viewtopic.php?f=125&t=21909
* - new "reform units" cheat in 1.10 is not mentioned there.
And I also don't care for towed AT, but in Rommel/Poznana (played it recently), it's not bad as it can follow your units and claim hexes; and your units can keep moving forward without having to move into the hexes. I found it increased my operational tempo and likely was net positive in gaining more prestige. Sometimes towed AT can be useful for that purpose alone, as well as the flexibility to go into the line when needed against armor, which recon cannot.

Re: How to Edit Starting Core in GC '39?
@airbornemongo101 - Will do. Thanks again.
@Kamerer - Thanks, the cheat codes slipped my mind. But then again in Poznan when you disband and replace, I don't know whether you lose a turn? When I bought 2 more Panzer 38ts', I could place them but they couldn't move till turn 2. There are very few defensive scenarios in Panzer Corps and I found that I could go through my campaign (up to end of GC '43) without an 88mm ATG/AAA or ATG (self-propelled or otherwise). It may be more useful in Afrika Korps, which I have but haven't played yet. Just couldn't resist going through GC'39 to GC'45East in Rommel mode. I'll check out the ATGs when playing Afrika Korps though, thanks.
