I'll endeavour to make sure we get some figures out for start NovWith the theme now set for Usk 2013 at armies after 1649 I think we may all be bringing our plans forward.

1 x Superior Danish foot (6 musket, bayonet)
2 x Average Danish/German foot (6 musket, bayonet)
2 x 4 Dragoons
1 x 4 Unarmoured, Average, Determined Horse.
1 x 2 Medium Artillery
4 x TC
Paradoxically, for an army with only one rather pathetic cavalry unit, I found it more effective against cavalry armies than infantry armies, although it did, much to my amazement, beat the Swiss. (Throwing 20 shooting dice against one keil on 1 turn - I think probably the most dice I have ever thrown in one go).

Re: League of Augsberg Anglo-Dutch
Not quite sure what has come over me, but I have already painted 3 BGs of foot in the last 9 days (2 British, 1 Danish), using Irregular Miniatures figures.
At this rate, I may use the army at Derby.
The Irregular Miniatures figures seem fine to me, but I am replacing their wire pikes (which are just pieces of wire) with Damian Ranasinghe's superior Donnington Miniatures ones (which have proper points). (Though I have filed the sharp tips a bit so that I can pick them up without the usual pain I suffer when using Damian's armies).

Re: League of Augsberg Anglo-Dutch
According to C.S.Grant, the Danish foot wore 4 different uniforms at the Boyne:
Green lined red
Blue lined red
Blue lined white
Grey lined blue
Firstly, does this (in the first case, for example) mean green lined with red, or red lined with green?
(I wish I had asked this sooner, as I have already painted a blue regiment with red cuffs).
Secondly, William's army in Ireland included the following Danish foot regiments:
Danish Guards
The Queen's Danish Regiment
Prince Frederick's
Prince Christian's
Prince George's
The Zealand Regiment
The Jutland Regiment
The Zuitland Regiment
Can anyone identify which of the above regiments had the above uniforms?
Any information of the uniforms of the other regiments?
So far I have found a site which states that the Zealand (Sjaellandske) Regiment had grey coats with blue cuffs. This hopefully answers my first question, and identifies the grey-coated regiment at the Boyne.
It would be nice to know the name of the blue coated regiment with red cuffs that I have already painted.

Re: League of Augsberg Anglo-Dutch
Thanks for those links.
It seems that Prince George's, Prince Frederick's and Prince Christian's regiments all had blue coats in 1676 (with orange, red and yellow lining, respectively), then light grey coats (with the same colour linings) in 1691. Perhaps the Boyne was their last outing in the old uniforms.
Though where the blue coats with white linings came from escapes me.
Anyway, it seems I have inadvertently painted Prince Frederik's Regiment. Now all I need is a printable version of the flag.

Failing finding a printable version, try The Flag Dude, he may have one he could ship.

I seem to have missed this comment.list_lurker wrote:I feel your pain as I have iterated through this several times. IMHO there aren't any 'great' figures out there.
Sir Bill the Ageds (TMP) blog is good ,for a lot of reasons, and has picture comparisons
http://warsoflouisxiv.blogspot.co.uk/se ... %20figures
Basically none really 'mix' with one another and they span the ends of the size spectrum
I've painted Venixia (the Louis XIV pics in the main rule book), they were 'OK'. I found something underwhelming about them. They are also BIG (the cav esp). You will also have to wait as they are out of production right now, and when they are you will face the joy of avoiding import duty !!![]()
Essex are just 'essex' , personally I hate them. They all have silly poses and big conks. That said their cavalry for this period is the best Essex I've seen... but I'm guessing you won't want much of that.
I've also just painted Irregular, who probably are as good as any. They have a lot of bad press but they do paint up rather 'jolly' ... that said the faces were absymal!
Hallmark are nice , but (too) dainty. I might suggest Donnington, but when we spoke you didn't seem to like them.
I found it so frustrating I've ended up making my own.
thanks
Simon
Simon, does this mean Lurkio will be releasing a League of Augsberg range?

When I see them, I'll let you know too!
Basically it will cover the German states first, then later , maybe at the time French (with a bit more pomp)
