Killing Spree

This is one of those scenarios where I find it extremely hard to meet certain achievements without completing the mission by virtue of having killed too many units. Specifically, I can't hang around for long enough to kill 5 German tanks or capture 6 VPs, though the last time I played I could have captured the six VPs had I realized that the latest German attack on their turn would result in game over because 20 German kills had been exceeded.

Any tips?

NM. I just completed those two achievements in the same game, weakening but assiduously avoiding killing any units unlikely to threaten my armour... Now, completely all four on the same game (namely, kill all trucks) would be quite a feat.
