I am enjoying Field of Glory Digital but am frustrated at a lack of a rulebook! I need something more than the brief snippets of in game "help". I need an outline of how the whole thing works and definitions of a lot of terms and some understanding as to how things work.
I begin to regret getting the game as a digital download. At least if I'd bought the boxed version I'd get a printed rulebook. When I couldnt find any rules in the game itself, I looked in the folders but cannot find a rules PDF either.
Help! I can play, I can even win. But I don't understand the relationships of many of the basic rules.
Where can I get a PDF of the rules for FoG Digital? Is there such a document?
Thanks.

Re: Rules?
You can click on the help button on the FOG load screen or if in-game up to the right of screen.

No you wouldn't. There is no printed rule book for this game. Players are left to figure it out for themselves.Roke wrote:I begin to regret getting the game as a digital download. At least if I'd bought the boxed version I'd get a printed rulebook.

Actually, everything is explained in the in-game help. It's just formatted so that it's pretty hard to understand it all. But having played the game a lot, I now understand what the stuff means, even if I didn't at first.
That said, I understand how frustrating it may be to try to truly understand what the texts says, so if you have any questions, ask away and we'll answer.

Thanks. I found the best information so far is just clicking the Help button from the main game menu. It didn't help that when in game "help" works differently with just a brief line of contextual text. Having seen just the brief snippets in game I neglected to click on Help in the main game menu which, as hidde recommended, gives the best how to information. It is a bit frustrating, but certainly learnable. First thing I learned from reading the rules after being frustrated is how turning ends movement for UNDRILLED battlegroup. This is the sort of thing that was driving me nuts. Some units could turn and move, some couldn't, but not knowing it was based on drilled or undrilled. This game needs a cheat-sheet with just that sort of information. Back to playing!
Thanks again.

Re: Rules?
The OP may not have noticed the button that looks like a manual at the top right of the in-game screen next to the Menu button. I can confirm that Manual is also one of the options when loading the game from the Programs Menu. If not, it may be a faulty copy of the game where the bits of coding for these features are missing.
