Error 99 - Notification of be possible banned from pbem

I get this Email last night: Dear Schelle, The server tracks all actions taken by all users in the PBEM++ system and we notice that you have consistently downloaded your turns multiple times. Please contact technical support via www.slitherine.com/forum to resolve the issue or you may find you are unable to continue to use the PBEM++ server system. Regards, The Slitherine Team.

Actually, I did load my turns serval times, especially this week for a simple reason. I was unable to download them. For example: Yesterday evening, I played two turn against my good friend Santo. I had try to download my turns at least 4 or 5 times and most time I get an Error 99 message.
So: I did download my turn multiple time without being able to do a turn. This should make clear that I am not cheating! I also told Santo already that I have somekind of server issues and I may not be able to do my turn on time.
This is may email from Wednesday evening to Santo saying: Connection fine, slitherine server not. Download error, mabye it will work later. (Netz läuft, slitherine server nicht. Downloadfehler. Vielleicht klappt das nachher. )
My ethernet connection yesterday worked fine with everthing else, just not with the Pbem server. I would liked to be not banned from playing because of Error 99. In case of doubt, contact Santo. Hope you could solve this issue.

Hi Schelle,
We looked in the logs and we see you had issues downloading your turn in a single game, so no problem at all, you can ignore the notification.

Hi again, I know whats causing the problem. For unknown reason I can not always download the turn, when I am using my mobile phone via usb-tethering to my pc. I added a screenshoot. Is there someway to omit this problem or should I just stop using usb-tethering?

Yes, the tethering doesn't provide a strong internet connection and the game could fail to download the turn correctly, while the server is sending it fine. It's surely better to use a stronger connection...

Sorta and I have been playing each other pbem for years, so there is no issue re player accountability. I emailed him previously saying I was having technical problems prior to receiving an error 99.

I have either or both of two issues;
1. A temperamental graph card which I have since pulled apart cleaned and reseated (touch wood is now behaving...I think)
2. My WIE regularly hangs the program on the weather map. If I access weather and quickly jump back out before it hangs (like 3 seconds) all is well. If not it hangs and all is lost
Also if I leave the game unattended say to get coffee when I return it has hung and again its a redo

Besides the above I have received another error message (I think 6 digits long) but didn't get time to note it down. No idea what that was but wouldn't boot the game for me, (seems to have gone)

Also whenever the game boots I have to widen the the screen to fit then monitor. I have no other game that does this. Is this normal?
Included in this is the inability to read headings at the top of the screen (it cuts them off). I assume this is related to the above.

Welcolme any tech advice you have re the above. At least I now know what error 99 is LOL.

BTW does the error 99 mean you have to finish your turn in one sitting? This may prove difficult given the length of time it takes to complete a WIE turn.
I tend to do my turn in up to 3 sittings unless I am chasing the clock to get my turn done for my opponent due to time differences;
1. reorg.
2 move
3.post reorg review
Or is the error 99 only triggered by turn downloads that aren't saved?

ok so now I get a login error 8 ?
BTW in addition to the graphs info re problems I am runing XP windows.

Hi captain,
The error 99 is returned when the client is having connection issues, while error 8 is due to a login error (wrong username or password).
Everytime we seen this issue, it was easily fixed by a password reset, you can do it by: resetting it yourself here: http://www.slitherine.com/reset_pass.php or send an email to info @ slitherine.co.uk and ask for a manual password reset.

You don't have to finish your turn in one sitting, you can do it in how many sitting you prefer, the only thing you need to do, is to make sure you are uploading/saving your turn progress to the server, this way you won't receive any notification
