Artillery and CMTs

Post by hammy »

Having now played 7 games of FoG:R (6 last weekend) I figured it would be time to read through the rules again.

So far I have uncovered a small number of key points but one in particular has me confused.

Some moves for artillery are simple but there is a general rule that any move by artillery requires a CMT. Over the weekend both I and some of my opponents pivoted batteries of medium guns. On no occasion was a CMT required. Either we all got it wrong or my reading of the rules has missed a key point.

Anyone?

That is what it would seem from the movement chart but there is a section on page 57 "Points to note on the CMT" which says "If an artillery battle group fails its CMT it cannot move at all"

Aha, I think I have worked it out. If a limbered artillery battle group tries to unlimber and fails (complex move) it cannot move instead (simple move).
